So once again i find myself at the beginning of August here in mid Michigan with really nice plants. But ever since i quit gorilla growing in the corn fields it seems almost every year i have major problems when the buds really start to swell. Powderery mildew mold bud rot and then good old mother nature with her high winds and rain. It always seems to be something kicks me in sack. This year I’ve really tried to keep the centers and bottoms of my plants clean. My plants are all bare in the center. I’m going to trellis as much as i can cost is an issue at this time. I have The amazing Dr zymes eliminator i plan on using for a mold and mildew preventative. From what I’ve read about it it’s safe to use on your buds. If you know different please tell me!!! Here’s a few of the ladies. I welcome any and all advice.
Increase airflow with fans if possible. Plants respire moisture and it will evaporation of water from plant material.
A dilute peroxide/water mix can also be effective, and peroxide is inexpensive.
I got given an idea to use a leaf blower in the mornings to dry off the dew and also after it rains. I’m not sure fans are an option but i did do a major trim the 2nd-3rd week of July which I’ve never done before. Here’s a pic of the center of my plants i do think i could use to thin leaves again on what’s left
A lot of wind across this corn fields, not so much in your case ![]()

Good luck with the blower, thtll definitely knock the dew off. I may snag that idea ![]()
Those, those corn fields.
We might have a couple corn rows and ros around here but no fields ![]()

I was actually just reading through some post on this forum about a month ago when i seen the idea.
@Dforce is from your neck of the woods and can probably share some outdoor tips ![]()
@OGIncognito thank you for the tag.
@David1974 I’m also in mid east Michigan. Have been growing outdoors for many years now. I have found that a greenhouse is almost a must, as in September and October, are extremely humid every night.
So there are some things you can do.
1st is definitely make sure you keep the plant well trimmed/ thinned out for air flow.
After that a good prevention program is good, but doesn’t always work, at least not for me. There are so many you can use. The peroxide mix definitely works. Agrowlyte works very well, Pure Crop 1, Neem oil in veg only. Also I like to plant many different strains knowing I’m going to lose some to rot or mildew. One more thing is I plant later in the season so my plants do get to big, so they are easier to manage. As for the wind, I put up a privacy fence that helps.
We know what the wind can do. Hopefully this helps.
Definitely helps. My garden was a green house but unfortunately the plastic on the roof had long been off and the wooden roof trusses are rotted! It has 8ft walls with a couple openings across the bottom for air flow. I’ll keep plants as thin as possible for air flow. Me and my son grow together so we currently have 24 plants(16 strains).
I’ll share a pic so you can see spacing.
They look sweet for sure. I’ll be watching ![]()
I use cheap …MOUTH WASH, yep it kills that white power mold, 1 to 1 mix kills on contact, no issues just spray at dusk…QUESTION…whats the difference between the AUTOS and RUNTZ?
Just curious did you start with clones or seeds?
Clones i would say they were actually teens by the time i planted 2nd week of May
Can get 6 mil plastic at Home Depot for a roof that’s what we just did on my makeshift hoop house.
NE Ohio so same weather
I’m not sure but i would assume they’d have something.
You can also purchase greenhouse plastic which my cost more, but has better light Penetration, and it doesn’t fade and get brittle like standard plastic. Just an fyi.
I live in a Northern California on the coast and mildew on weed of course is rampant here. I have found that I reduce the mildew tremendously by starting my plants by seed instead of clones. The disease lives inside of the plant so if the mother plant has any mildew the clone will have it too, even if you can’t see it yet. It’s already infected. Maybe in the future try seeds . Your plants look beautiful btw .
I have been told this a few times. I plan on either buying some feminized seed next year or maybe I’ll go back to my gorilla grow roots and just start some bag seed and sex them out under lights. I really like the idea of buying feminized seed though. I’ve seen some old school strains I’d like to grow. I true skunk plant has eluded me for a few years. Id like to grow one so stinky my neighbors think I’m raising skunks.
