Ohio growers. What is the legal limit to your harvest?

Here in Ohio, you can grow up to 6 plants per person, and 12 plants per household.

But what is the legal limit of what comes off of those 12 plants?

Whos to say you dont get a lb per plant and wind up with 12 pounds of bud setting at your house.

At what point does the government step in and say “hey you have to much cannabis!”?

I have read online that anything over 100grams is a 5th degree felony, and it just gets more severe with the more amount, up into kilos.

What do they expect you to have at the end of your 12 plants?

Im running 2 plants, i got 4.7 oz off just one plant. I cant imagine having 12!! Wish i had the space, but trim jail would last forever with that many plants and it would rot before i smoked it all lol.

There is no limit to how much you can harvest just the amount of plants per person per household. Grow 12 next year if you got two. If not dont worrie the laws will loosen quickly. Good luck from Streetsboro

Seconded from Dayton!

They make no mention. The only thing i could find in my research was 2.5 oz possession. Don’t clarify possession. Nor would it make sense.

I am familiar enough with the revised code, but no where does it state how much the legal limit for your home grow.

Who’s to say that you dont get a suprise inspection of your grow and they say, “well there is no way you could have JUST grown 12 plants with the amount you have your storage”, without proper documentations and photos to prove your grow to be the limit?

I know! That make no mention of the harvested product. Shows they know nothing about this.

I’ve looked and can’t find anything.

This chapter of the ORC expresses the limit in terms of a number of plants, and it’s worth noting that the limit isn’t expressed as “plants per year.” So long as you have no more than 6 (or 12) plants at any one time, you’re good as far as the chapter is concerned.

I expect other parts of the ORC set limits on weight, and there may be disconnects between those limits and the weights that 6 or 12 plants can be expected to produce, never mind multiple grows of that many plants. If so, the Ohio legislature will have to harmonize the laws concerning home grows and the laws concerning the weight of finished product you’re allowed to possess.

My understanding is the 2.5 oz limit is out of your own house.

That’s what i would assume but they never clarify “possession”. The powers that be left things open for interpretation which is never good

The link i posted is 50 pages of the summary and full text. I may have missed it.

You get that off one plant though if the plant is grown naturally. I hope this is not the case.

Section 35 states 2.5 ounces of cannabis, or up to 15 grams of extract.

Very misleading, and probably setting alot of people up for jail time.

That is the amount you can carry on you at any givien time. Your home stash can be any size. Amount of plants per house is what is (controlled)Rec alows a consumer to purchase up to 1 ounce per day max. No one will be knocking on doors to count plants unless your abusing the amount you can grow and its outside for everyone to see.

I’ll talk to the chief of police about it. I know him personally and can ask him without drawing too much attention. That way we can just clarify from the mouth of the law. Ive been wondering this too. If its 70gs then im ckufed.lol

ITS A TRAP! lol. Couldnt resist. But for real though it feels like its a trap. You can grow 6 plants or 12 per household. But only harvest 2.5 ozs and have 2.5 ozs at all times as a maximum.

How does that make any sense at all? Like it seems like they either didnt do their research or was wanting to trap people. The punishments are harsh for over carry.

So to quote the greatest wizzard of all time.
“Keep it secret, keep it safe”

Wife is a lawyer in Ohio and I asked her about it. Without to much legalezz she explained the way this will prolly go down.
Currently the language in the law disconnects adult use PURCHASE from adult use grown at home. Just by the word purchaser the intent of the law is clear.
What is also clear is that because this was a legislative law it means it can be ammended at any time.
Saying that it is up to the home growers to not mess this up. If you start selling your home grown that is addressed in the law and refers you right to a DA. If it becomes a huge problem they can ammend the law to 2 plants and set weights. And sadly one more thing to think about. We already know major dispensaries funded a drop the grow part of the adult use law. You can expect this to return every 2 years to put pressure on home grows to protect the turf.
