This sounds pretty good to me.
Don’t rule it out.
If you aren’t already doing preventative maintenance, start now. I’d be spraying with Captain Jack’s Dead Bug and/or Neem Oil once a day (at lights out) for a few days in a row - spray all over, tops and bottoms of every leaf - and after 3 days, you can back off to once every 3-5 days just to keep the life cycle of eggs interrupted.
One thing I’ve learned is once a pest can get established, it’s a really difficult path to get rid of them. Spider Mites are essentially invisible until they’re established enough to do serious damage. Once you can see them, it’s likely too late.
It’s annoying to treat something you can’t see/isn’t there, but if you read @JaneQP @Fiz or even my own journals, you’ll see a common thread where we essentially want to set fire to the whole thing because it gets sooo frustrating.
I agree on the bugs, what a pain. I had first thrips, then gnats. Just one plant, but I really struggled to get things straightened out.
By the time you see thrips, you’re pretty well infested. So I kept treatment up, since if I stopped, those little demons were running all over the place.
They hitchhiked in on an orphaned clone that I took to raise. Never again.
Thank you both for following up with me. I sprayed once last week, but haven’t been keeping it up. I sprayed again with neem last night and will continue for the next few nights.
All I know is I am not spraying anything on my plants unless I have identified a problem. You could be treating nothing or the wrong thing. The you get to smoke the stuff you sprayed on them unnecessarily. Plus what is needed for the real problem.
I also don’t think you have a problem. Just my opinion.
Appreciate your perspective and vote of confidence! I tend to agree with your POV, but being new to this, I’m going err on the side of caution. I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t have the confidence in myself right now to recognize a pest problem or address it once established. Next time I would be more thorough with IPM in veg to avoid as much as possible once I get into flower.
Good morning all! @Myfriendis410 @dbrn32 @1HappyPappy @Graysin - the girls are showing what look to me like more distinctive insect damage, maybe caterpillars ? Appreciate your thoughts on fine tuning my pest management. I’ve sprayed with neem past 2 nights and running out for the Deadbug Brew in a bit.
Also noticed some yellowing leaf tips. Any ideas on this?

Good call - switch to the dead bug fully. My apologies, I didn’t notice you were in flower already. Neem isn’t advisable on flowering ladies, so once you’re equipped with CJDB, do that and reserve the Neem oil for anyone still in veg
As far as the yellowing, check your parameters (soil EC and pH, and runoff EC/pH) and see where you’re at. I could take a stab in the dark but knowing where we’re starting would be much better.
Guess I’ll be attempting a bud wash after all. Any tips on spotting insects? Feel like I’m looking for an engagement ring on the beach!
Graysin has you covered, ditch the neem oil for flowering period.
Do not spray Neem oil on a flowering plant: it will wreck your flower and make it unusable.
I would also add ‘Safer Caterpillar Killer’ to your pest regimen, alternating between it and CJ’s every five days.
thanks @Myfriendis410. Is that every night at lights out? Until I see results?
Spray one product, wait five days then spray the other. Repeat until infestation is gone. Plan on doing a bud wash in peroxide.
Hello all, update and question… I sprayed with the dead bug and haven’t seen any new damage to foliage in the past few days! However, it looks to me like the girl on the right is happy as can be, but one on left may have signs of light stress. What do you guys think? I raised the lights a bit for Maggie’s benefit (left) but should I prop Margo (right) up a bit higher? Separate feeding
schedule? They are same strain, Mango Kush, but have had very different paths thus far. I spilt Margo’s main stem during training and she is about 4” shorter than her sister (I’ve adjusted below for even canopy). Margo seems to be further along than Maggie (right) at this point.
Fed last night, Monday, 9/11:
PPM IN: 999 PH IN: 6.4
Maggie OUT: PPM: 1550 / PH: 5.7
Margo OUT: PPM: 1680 / PH: 5.8
