Apologies to the group. I exceeded my allowed responses yesterday. Just want to thank everyone for their input. My complete grow information is below please take a look and share your thoughts.
What strain, Seed bank, White Widow and Zkittlez both Auto’s from ILGM
Method: Soil Foxfarm ocean forest
Vessels: Pots, 3 Gallon grow bags could bump unto 5 gallon bags if you think it will increase yield
PH of Water, I have a meter and PH down to keep it at 6
PPM/TDS or EC of nutrient solution if applicable I will be using Foxfarm trio nutrient solution starting on week 6
Indoor or Outdoor Indoor 3 x 3 tent
Light system, Spider farm 1000 watt LED, I also have a Roleadro 1000 watt full spectrum LED. Should I use both, or would it be to much?
Temps; Day, Night Mid to high 70’s
Humidity; Day, Night Trying to keep it around 60% and around 50% during bloom
Ventilation system; 6 inch vent fan and filter.
AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier, Very dry here using a small humidifier with distilled water
Co2; Yes, No Using one bag of exhale.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated especially regarding use of both lights.
If u could get the light in there nice next to the other one i wpuld throw it in for the extra lighting for sure. @Nicky. Had a auto bubblegum going in cocoloco and it was dying worse and worse everyday. Well i transplanted it today into coco ffof mix. Hope she picks back up now. She looks ill. Root from solocup transplant roots didnt even stretch at all the ball came right out the coco perfect lol
I know fox farm soil is pretty dang pricey (unless sold locally) so If I were you I’d stick with the 3 gallons but I must note that looking at the rootballs of my 5 gallon girls , they took up every inch of my 5 gallon pots(except the top 1/2 inch) and produced fairly well with my non mykos zkittles produced 2.25, 2.5 , and 3.25 ounces and my Jack herer with mykos I suspect has produced about or more then 4 ounces (just cut her and washed her an hour ago heres her tray pic) all in a pseudo 3x3( but with a hlg 260 rspec for flower)
Oh and humidifiers dont need distilled water ph doesn’t travel in the air (mostly) but I think mid veg into flower you should use both lights with 3+ plants
Welcome back @Ely3 you won’t be limited by posts soon but in the mean time do as much reading as you can
The other light is 135w so you should throw both lights in your tent and set one over top each plant, they will assist each other but put the plant you want to do the best under the spider farmer.
This if for you and @Mark0427 you don’t want to plant seeds in rich soil (coco loco is as rich as fox farms ocean forest) if they are auto seeds your best bet in soil is this:
Mix all soils with at least 30% perlite, roots want airey soil.
Grab your fabric pot and put a round wine like bottle in the center of the pot. Fill the top 3/4 with your rich soil (fox farms ocean forest with perlite mixed at 30% in this case) pack it.
Remove bottle, mix a lighter soil like fox farms happy frog or whatever also with 30% perlite then fill that center hole made by the bottle and the rest of the 1/4 of the pot. This allows the tap root to shoot to the bottom without getting torched by rich hot soil.
I also suggest Mykos, voodoo juice or great white etc if you have them.
Once your seed has a tail plop it in that pot, autos you want to put in the final pot (no potting up) dome it with a 4L Milk jug with the bottom cut off. This way you can close the top or leave the top open or tape half of the top closed.
The light diffusion through a milk jug is enough don’t sweat it.
If running soil I recommend at least a 5 gallon pot, this will avoid you from feeding grow nutrients and you’ll only need flower nutrients. Bigger roots bigger buds.
Although I personally do not see the point in running soil if your going to run nutrients (unless your doing your own home brew organic teas)
You have nutrients and soils pricey and comes with slower growth and a more complicated feeding issues, so my recommendation is grab a. Bag of coco and mix it 50/50 with perlite then feed nutrients from the start.
If you want your exhale bag to work you can’t have your exhaust fan on all the time, it just sucks the co2 out to fast so get a inkbird temperature controller and attach it to your exhaust fan. This will help your grow out in many many ways.
Thank you Nicky, Very informative response. I have already ordered the Inkbird temperature controller The nutrients I currently have are soil nutrients can I use them with the Coco Perlitre mix?
@Nicky. My rooms been staying at a good temps with no exhaust running at all. Just an intake its been staying at a good 75 and 52 rh. Rh goes up if i do waters or feeds. Kinda nice not having 80s all the time for the temps lol.
I have to disagree with humidifiers don’t need distilled. Well, Maybe best said. Don’t use tap water. or on mine it is recommended not to use. After a short period. It will coat every thing in there with minerals. Take a glass of tap water. Fill it and let it evaporate a few times. You will start to see the film build up on it. @Mark0427, My guess is you really over watered your plant. I say this because I had your twin here. She was over watered and it stopped her cold. This here is 4 weeks old. I transplanted it a week before this picture. She took off once she dried out
@Nicky and I always disagree here Dropping a new seed into a final pot is super hard to get started un less you have been growing for a while. And even then can be a challenge. I still don’t do it because it never ends well for me. It is super easy to over water in a bigger pot. I would say to use a solo cup or nursery bag to start. That way. You can feel when it needs watered. Over water and you get my plant above. Just my 2 cents here
Me and @Not2SureYet agree so much yet we disagree on little details
Distilled water is expensive so I also don’t use it.
I use tap water, that being said I understand the mineral build up associated with it.
I don’t use a carbon filter Durring veg and only put it on Durring flower (when smell builds) this will for sure block your filter and leave mineral residue over time but to give your plants an ideal environment it’s something that one just lives with. After 2 years you replace a carbon filter as well as once and a while I soak some CLR in my humidifier with a little scrub to clean it out.
It is hard to judge watering in a full size pot agreed. I actually start mine in rapid rooters until they show a set of leafs then I toss em in a pot.
Just give a little drink here and there don’t over water, it’s something one needs to get the hang of but this let’s the tap root sink fast as possible I dislike solo cups for autos.
Although you can grow many ways and @Not2SureYet is a fantastic grower, I’ll concede he is better than me… By a bit
At the first bit you don’t need your exhaust fan on the plants are to small to care once they grow up and have a couple sets of leafs you should turn it on though to ensure fresh air.
Also make sure you have a interior fan that gives a little Russle to your plants as they grow this will make them strong, nothing crazy just a tiny little russling of the leafs.
@smokngranny Beautiful plant. Can you tell me a little about your low stress training?
When to start?
How often?
Any other advice will be appreciated. Best regards…Ely3
I don’t see my self as a better grower than others on here. I think we all have out weak and strong points I just get lucky a lot Yeah, high humidity degrades your carbon filter faster. So it is best left just for flowering if you can. I didn’t have to hook mine up till a few weeks ago. My room smells so good right now. The buds on the AK and skunk are super strong
