I use a small shop vac to suck out my water trays. Might be easier than a sponge. The baster is good to get a sample to measure though.
Yeah, I have a big shop vac and may need to use it when I flush.
Training my plants. Pushing them under the screen, using some wire for support. Growing fast and I hope to spread across the screen in a week or 2. Maybe start flowering April 1, should be looking at harvest at 10 weeks around mid-June.
Done with veg at 9 weeks. Changing lights to 12/12 cycle. This is 3 plants over a scrog screen in a 3x4 tent. I’ll tuck the sprouts under the screen and then trim off some of the lower leaves. Growing in organic soil, and will now start to feed with flowering nutrients.
Schedule:
1/13 - Received seeds
1/15 - started germination
2/8 - transplanted to 5 gallon buckets
2/22 - topped plants (5 weeks)
2/23 - installed scrog screen
3/25 - cut 8 clones
3/31 - starting flower cycle.
Keep up the good work looks great
Looking good brother. They exploded in those 19 days
Looking very nice , keep up the great work.
Burnt Buds! I didn’t check for 2 days and they grew 8 inches into the light. I think I lost 3 top buds, but the lower buds are good.
Early flowering. Raised the main light, only have about 16 inches to the roof. I tied the taller stalks away from the main light. Added 2 fluorescent side lights, and trimmed fan leaves blocking light to lower growth.
I’ve made some mistakes. First, I stopped checking pH because my plants are flowering and looked OK. Noticed my top flowers seem to be drying out, so I watered well but it didn’t improve in a couple days. Checked my pH in runoff, and it was 5.3, 4.3, 5.3 for the three plants. Too low.
Next mistake was adding pH UP too strong, which burned the plants. I filled a 1/2 liter cup halfway with water and half pH UP for each plant (in 5 gallon buckets), then added a couple cups of straight water. The pH did go up, but now the upper leaves are going brown from pH burn. I do not know if the burnt parts will recover or if they should be clipped off.
I still plan to add pH UP slowly until I have the pH near 6.0.
My pH experiment:
Bucket with 1 gallon of tap water, pH = 7.8
Added one capfull of CaMg, pH = 6.3
Added one capfull of General Organics Bloom nutrients, pH = 5.7
Added 2 capfulls of pH UP, pH = 7.0
Bottled General Hydroponics pH UP = 12.0
Yikes… this is about when things are going to go haywire… download the grow bible if possible…
If I’m understanding you correctly , it sounds like you may not understand how to use some of your equipment and other things…
Hopefully we can get you sorted out before things get to crazy…
Fill out a support ticket asap…
Harvest. Got 4 ounces of Northern Lights and 4 ounces of Blue Dream, plus another couple ounces of shake. Not getting it tested, but I expect it’s lower quality smoke due to the nutrient lockout. I have clones outdoors doing well in veg. Next indoor run will be in fresh soil, and I will be watching the pH closely. I like the Sun Systems 315 Watt LEC for my 3x4 tent.
Things I learned:
Watch your pH.
Adjust pH in a watering bucket, and add nutrients carefully.
Schedule:
1/13 - Received seeds
1/15 - started germination
2/8 - transplanted to 5 gallon buckets
2/22 - topped plants (5 weeks)
2/23 - installed scrog screen
3/25 - cut 8 clones
3/31 - starting flower cycle.
7/28 - Harvest. 15 weeks in flower with pH nutrient lockout.
I have clones outdoors and starting new seeds.
Probably ending this grow journal here. I’ll start a new thread for the next run.
Add nutrients to water. Measure pH of nutrient mix with a pH meter. Add pH up/down as needed adjusting incrementally. 6.5 pH for soil and 5.8 for soiless grows.
Improper pH of water can really screw up a grow. You got lucky you got what you got.
You might want to consider taking some time and reading through the forum. Lots of very good info on here that could help you! @Budlite
Thanks for your comments. Yes, I learned that pH is important, and it needs to be adjusted incrementally. I overdosed on pH UP, and it was really difficult to bring it back down. Lesson learned.
As a beginner, I missed any directions on how to adjust pH, the directions were “add as needed” and I did it wrong. @bob31
No problem. Do a grow journal here and update it weekly and we can keep you on the straight and narrow! lol. We all make those rookie mistakes and sometimes when we aren’t rookies any more. But stick it out and do a more involved journal so we can help you out and you should be able to triple your harvest or more!
Check out this grow! @Budlite
