1st grow since I got busted by the man in ‘98 for 200+ plants! All legal now, really enjoying resuming the hobby! Amazing how far tech has come! 5x5 AC tent, 750w Evo 8, 5gal fabric pots with AC watering bases, 2-1 Ocean Forest to Frog, Humbolt Secret nutes and a couple old school tricks. Here’s day 56 w/ NL Auto!

She’s doing well so far, pretty impressed. Wasn’t sure about this AutoFlower witchcraft at first, wasn’t around back in the day. Got 3 photos in the same tent, Cherry Pie, Lemon Drizzle and an unknown from an old seed I had stashed, may call her Resurrection. Just switched to 12/12. Thinking I go full auto next round due to lack of patience and an interest to try some more autos.
Autos can be twitchy, but if you are an experienced grower, then you should have few problems.

Any truth to the Autos being less potent than photos or does it really just come down to the strain and grower?

Autos can be difficult to manage which can lead to less potency if the basics are not nailed versus photos. In addition the ruderalis gene present in autos can detract from potency. There is not a hard and fast rule, but keep the above in mind. Photos are your best option for productive, potent plants.
An experienced grower who nails the basics should do fine with autos.
