Noob needing help before purchase

Yes, I experimented with that a bit and adding just a small amount to the water did seem to increase growth.

My wife added just a little to some flowers she has in pots on the deck and they loved it. The MG soil is fine and the PH has stayed right on, but a little extra kick caused a noticeable increase in growth and so far not a sign of any bad side effects. I think I’m two weeks from harvest and no malaise of any kind.

Miracle Grow.

Very top of the plant. I have an old Nikon that has good macro capabilities, but this is handheld so not as clear as it could be. The camera sat too long and the battery went bad, so I had to take pics with a cord connected and without a tripod, I just took a couple of shots of the tops. The rest of the plant is very healthy, dense and it could not have gone much better.

With an eye loupe the trichomes are mostly cloudy, but only an occasional trichome has any amber. The pistils are still 90% white other than the very top of the cola.

The buds had stopped fleshing out and the pistils showed signs of starting to curl in and turn brown, which lasted for three days. I expected it would be ready in maybe a week when that happened. Then the buds started getting fatter again and the pistils all fleshed back out and straightened back out like it is having another growth spurt. I’m thinking that’s the last hurrah and expect to harvest by the end of the week.

The only issue I’ve had is that the last few days the leaves near the top are showing signs of calcium deficiency and potassium deficiency, but it’s so close to harvest I see no reason to worry about that.

One of the WWA’s in the tent grew to the height the strain info predicted, the other is maybe 8 inches taller than they are supposed to get and has more bud, but the bud on the shorter one is fatter, so the yield may be similar in the end.

Anyhow, I’m harvesting in about five days unless the buds decide to have another growth spurt and fatten up even more. I doubt that since by today the trichomes are completely cloudy and I see hints of amber starting.

I’m going to grow a single plant in the closet next so I can concentrate on learning to trim better and use LST to better control things for better airflow. I was way too hesitant to thin out the leaves at the bottom this time, or I think I would have gotten a higher yield. I’ll dig the good camera, a high end Nikon, out of the storage room and find the good macro lenses so I can do a journal on the next one. Already sprouted the seed and it went into the soil yesterday.

My wife is more excited about it all than I am and she does not even smoke and never has. Hopefully that will make her forgive me for the process of finding something in our junk room where the camera gear ended up after moving it make room for a home office. :slightly_smiling_face:

That looks beautiful with so many trichomes!

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with this first attempt. I expect a nice yield and the buds are very fat and even though I know I should not touch them yet, the one I checked is very dense and hard inside.

Lessons learned at this point-
-Don’t be afraid to trim off the lower fan leaves where they don’t get good light.
-Train the plant to get more separation of the cola’s.
-Pay closer attention and make sure they have all the nutrients they need in the last month before harvest to avoid last minute issues.
-Patience pays off.
-LED lights produce great results
-Don’t plant too many in too small a space, they take up more room than expected. In my 2’x3’ space, one plant would have been better.
-Go ahead and top Auto’s in my opinion, it works out great.

My first grow is going pretty good too. Also, using LED (optic 6) which I love. I’ll try to send a pic via this thread. Learning all the time but love spending some time doing this.

That’s a beauty :+1::+1: Looks like you’re getting close.

Strangest thing with mine. In the last three days the shorter plant has grown 3 or 4 inches and both are having some growth again, after I thought it had stopped. Cloudy trichomes and still its growing again.

I’ll try and get this damn camera to work again and get a shot of the two in the grow closet. It’s full from wall to wall. Still can’t find the camera gear in the junk room.

I’m thinking about attaching a bunch of wire loops around the top of the fabric pot for the new one, to make training easier.

Well, I tried some. I had a small branch break while tending to the plants about four days ago, so I dried it at 150 in the oven just to give it a try. It was just one bud from a small branch I probably should have trimmed off.

Smoked a third of a joint and realized I’d smoked tooooo much. Knocked me on my ass. The THC level is much higher than I expected from the description. It’s easily as strong or stronger than stuff I’ve gotten from the shops that test at over 25%-28%. Don’t know if it’s an anomaly for the strain or not, but that plant is strong.

I looked at the pistils again and the ones on the lower buds are at 50% brown/red, so turning the lights off for a couple of days and harvesting. It’s time.

The closet is 3 feet wide, so as you can see, very fat buds.

Shut the lights down tonight and harvesting in two days. I’m very happy with my first try.

The shorter one almost caught up the last day of growth. The pistils other than at the top are 70% red so down she comes.

Those are some fatty buds. No sense in wasting any space, you’ve filled that tent nicely :+1: That bud in the first pic is such a beautiful color. Very nice job :v::green_heart:

Thanks guys.

I’m almost emotional about actually cutting the stalks, but I have another plant sprouted and in need of the tent. This time one plant to see what I can get out of it with plenty of breathing room.

I’ll do an actual journal this time.

This forum has been immensely helpful. It made the learning process much easier. Kudos to everyone here for all the advice and experience you share with us newcomers. :+1::+1:

I know what you’re saying it was hard the first time I cut my plant down LOL I actually felt bad. But when you smoke it it’s all worth it. and I can’t wait until you start a new journal make sure to tag me

Yeah, I got attached to the little lady, my wife did also.

I shut the lights down last night to see if it did anything to speak of to them before cutting them down. They got a lot darker and have more color and the fragrance changed. They have a wonderful light fruity smell almost like old grape candy smelled for lack of a better description.

This is the large colas from one plant. Second is getting cut down shortly. The buds are hard and very dense. Should have some decent weight. Very happy for my first try.

The small stuff from branches I now know I should have trimmed off early on. Future bannana mini-muffins after I quick dry them and decarb.

Forgive the crappy photos.
