So another words I could use my empty 20 gallon fish tank with the pump to pump oxygen through with the air stone and the other pumps I have to pump the nutrients in how would you time the nutrients though because that seems interesting
You can do that several ways, and I have no experience with any of them lol
But @peachfuzz @TDubWilly and I’m drawing a blank on my other goto hydro guys…can help you out with the specifics. For a general overview, you could check out some of the hydro topics on here and see some systems people have built.
Very basically, you’d use a timer, same as what you’d use for your lighting, and set your pumps to run at specified intervals, durations, etc.
You don’t want light getting to the roots. It causes algae which will then compete with your plant for water and nutrients.
Light will also cause your roots to begin to turn green like the plants stem and make osmosis more difficult.
Hide your roots from the light @Dickrick527 and other than that your on the right track
So do you not want the roots in water persay. I’ve never tried this way. I’m normally a outdoor guy, they honestly will be in my shed when I do this way.
Could I paint the tank black to keep light out?
Sure… but there are allot of variables working with a large fish tank.
It will need to be covered in such a way that light cannot penetrate through the surface of the water either
I have stopped doing DWC, but it is one of my favorite ways to grow.
@Grandaddy013 can help out with DWC also, @Myfriendis410 can also help.
DWC takes some planning, I would recomend a 27 gallon tote from home depot before i did it in a fish tank.
Now there is cool stuff you can do with fish tanks also, it’s known as aquaponics. It is a very detailed system designed for minimal human interaction but it takes allot of work to set it up
There you go, thanks for the help and the extra tags, @TDubWilly. Hope you’re doing well!
See that sounds good cause I am a avid fish connoisseur I can tell when they need or don’t need better than plants. I’ve owed fish for 23 out of the 30 years I’ve been alive. Made my own pond a ten years ago and no filtration was needed then effing weather tore it apart.
Sorry @Myfriendis410 didn’t even realize I had done that. Thank you my friend.
What did I do? I didn’t do it! Really!
The edit of my obscene language, it said you changed it from fu****** to effing, so again thanks I was so tore up from the floor up last night, started my new job and was stressed so had to heavily medicate last night.
Not a problem; it’s what they pay me the big bucks for haha.
Get a bunch of rain? Looks like a fungus of some kind, to me.
Heck if I know. I don’t have citrus: I grow avocados.
You have septoria @Dickrick527
…goes to check tomato plants
You guys are effing awesome
