Newbie thinking about taking it inside

Very new grower here. I’ve attempted three autos with success on the first attempt in a greenhouse. I’m at a lower latitude so the heat and humidity are here. Listening to the cicadas song right now in the central time zone. The wife and I are contemplating establishing a grow indoors. Being what it is, the wife is concerned about the smell getting into fabric, meaning the curtains, clothes, etc. we are working people and have visitors from time to time.

That said, if I use the tent at the link below, my question is what to expect to grow full cycle on this thing in our master bedroom. Will the odor be strong? Is this a good product and price? From what I gathered from this forum, the lights may not be optimum.

Appreciate your time and response.

Sup bro. Welcome to the forum. I too am a fellow southerner… (War Eagle) cant wait for the sound of silence, but we wont get that for another month or so :rofl::rofl:

As for your question. What is your budget. How many plants are you wanting to grow?
I wouldnt buy a “kit”. Do it right the first time and piece it together. My grow rooms are a 12x8 and a 4x8. I run 2 8in ac infinity exhausts ( 1 in each ) and the smell is very minimal with 17 plants in flower :rofl::rofl:

My neighbors with 1 being law enforcement have never even batted an eye. My son in law who has been right outside the doors couldnt smell anything.

The light uses (type not quantity) 2835 LEDs the same ones in my ceiling fan they got no penetration. And they say “best spectrum for yield” I don’t believe. I dunno if the light ruins the deal just saying

RTR ! Hoping Milroe is a better QB this year under Deboors scheme. Hugh Freeze was a great hire IMO. Just a little longer before the fun begins again in September! I’m about 25 miles from the Florida state line in a rural area and we want to remain discreet. I don’t want to become a felon for the fun I’m having haha.

Appreciate the response. I think in the long run, indoors is the way to go given the climate and pest problems I face hear. We think the greenhouse is better served for ornamentals and vegetables. I’m trying to talk her into dedicating a small portion of our climate controlled square footage but she wants insurance it won’t be detrimental. I don’t mind spending the money to do it right but not sure what that looks like yet. We are in the research stage and I have 3 baby photos in a small 36” high tent at the moment with two autos germinating.

If youre wanting a good quality tent, look at Gorilla Tents. They have a Gorilla Lite Version that is a little cheaper but same great quality. For exhaust, look at AC Infinity. Also look at their lights and also take a look at the Controller 69 pro. It allows you to control up to 4 ac infinity devices through your phone.

Welcome aboard T-Ray! You found the place with the answers for all your growing questions!!! :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover: :love_you_gesture:t4: :love_you_gesture:t4:

You can absolutely reassure her, the charcoal filters do a great job of eliminating the smell. I’m on week 10 of my first indoor grow, (I was outdoors for years) as long as I keep the door shut to the lung room, there’s no smell at all. Even with the door open it’s mild. My wife is ultra sensitive to smells and she is quite pleased.

To elaborate on how well the charcoal filters work, I have my tent exhaust ducted to our attic, which has gable vents at both ends of the house. No smell at all outside. Come to think of it. I was in the attic a week or so ago and there was no smell in the attic.

I bought a second fan and filter, just in case, they’re still in the box. Speaking of, for long term, the AC Infinity refillable filter seems to be an economical option.

When you get ready to design your set up, hit these guys up. Regardless of how well you plan, expect to adapt to whatever the plants need. It’s much easier to start with a solid plan, than to make adjustments after the plants are growing.

Everybody has a preference on what medium to grow in. You’ll have to determine which best fits you. Read and ask all the questions you want, these guys will fill you up with knowledge. In fact the two who’ve replied are great resources.

I’ve only used an AC infinity tent, but I’ve had hands on a smaller Gorilla tent. I think they are both great products.

The more you plan and ask questions the less likely you are to spend money unnecessarily. (Like having a filter and fan sitting on the shelf. :joy:  Doesn’t hurt to have a spare. )

Viviosun from what I’ve seen is on the low end of quality, and as @Jaysittinback mentioned, their lights are not that great. I don’t think you’ll find to many folks here recommending viviosun for to much. I have a pump from them, it was cracked when I received it. I repaired it and made it work, but dang, it was brand new.

AC Infinity has a great, well earned reputation in the community for tents, fans, filters, controllers and accessories. And their price points are good too.

HLG lighting is another company who has a great reputation and fantastic lights!

Anyway, doing it right the first time will save you money and headache. Let the gurus here show you the way.  :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover: :love_you_gesture:t4: :love_you_gesture:t4:

Crazy how many things I find in common with people here. My neighbor is a retired lieutenant from a sheriffs department in Miss.

My second kid is in law enforcement at the state level, they’ve been in our living room and kitchen. (not the neighbor, he’s a weird mofo) No problems at all. We do light a scented candle if anyone comes over.

I spent 20 plus years working in emergency services :grinning: i retired out of the private sector and became self employed. I also have family members who are LEO with one being a K9 Handler :rofl::rofl::rofl: key is if you act normal, everything will remain normal. When i first started growing i was a nervous wreck. It took a few grows to realize how people really dont pay that much attention. @1LuckyMF

Exactly… just same ole same ole… everybody is in their own worlds anyways, if it doesn’t jump up an slap them in the face, they don’t even notice.

On a side note, some years back AU was expanding their Agri department. I delivered a few loads of building materials there. Really nice place they have there. And I’m still a Bo Jackson fan. :slightly_smiling_face: (Dang I’m old)

Believe it or not Bo Jackson is my childhood hero. Ive actually got to shake his hand a few times back when he was rehabbing after an injury. Saw him on an elevator and struck up a conversation. He handed me his business card and told me to sekd him a few things and he would sign them for me. Score!

You know they are growing some danky dank over at AU :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I spent my formative years (13-18) 80 thru 88 in Montgomery and my father was a member of the Quarterback club. Didn’t know how lucky I was at the time to see some very influential Auburn and Alabama football greats there. Bo Jackson is one of the greatest athletes of all time. He could do it all.

Appreciate the great advice guys. I think I’m armed enough to convince the wife of a very nice Father’s Day gift. I also have a sheriff deputy two houses down from me.

Read a bunch of coco for cannabis articles this morning. That is another great resource.

That system in the link looks nice.
FYI - growing is messy, expect spills, I would not use the master bedroom as the primary location.
For any tent there should be 3 types of fans, 1.) intake, 2.) exhaust 3.) a oscillating fan for air movement.
As far as odor, yeah, there will be some. At least all the ones I know of are smelly

@1LuckyMF

Did you have to cut into the house to vent to the attic?

Yep… Cut into the sheetrock, 6" hole for the duct. I tagged you in my grow thread, you’ll have to scroll past a lot of us just cut’n up, but I mentioned a couple of post you may find interesting. But there’s other stuff in there as well.

Some people just exhaust out the window. My neighbor, the retired sheriff looks right at my window from his deck, probably not a good option for me. :joy:  :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover:

I’m extremely happy with the 2x4 kit from ACI works great. You only need the carbon filter in flower. It lasts longer that way but works very well. Produces more than my wife and I need, always a surplus.
