Newbie Needs Some Help

There is a PH student who wrote his thesis on it but he messed it up… Ugh lol even says it in the corrections. Really wish he didn’t mess it up lol

Thanks for the insight, guys. I really appreciate it… This forum definitely has a wealth of information.

… I gave the girls one last breakfast first thing this morning and we’ll be checking the trichomes daily since I don’t think I have too much longer to wait… :sunglasses:

… HELP!.. I NEED SOME “TRIAGE” ADVICE!..

Ok, the other day I was trying to rotate my pots for better light angles… The entire cola on my WW Auto bent over and the stem creased. I tried to straighten it out and stand it back up but today it looks pretty bad. A second stem did the same thing due to the weight.

…Is there anything I can do to preserve them?

These photos were taken today (Saturday). Yesterday marked 11 weeks from planting… All in all, I guess they look fairly “ok” for my first grow, but I’ll be doing many things differently on the 2nd thanks to the “words of wisdom” on this forum. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

All Autoflowers… White Widow on left, Zskittles right back, Gorilla Glue right front.

Unfortunately, I’m under a HUGE time constraint. In 4 weeks I’ll be leaving for a months’ worth of job-related training and will not be able to care for them… So they’ll need to come down shortly so I can dry & cure them a bit before I leave town. There is just no other option.

… The next few weeks will be interesting for sure!.. And I have zero doubt that I’ll be back here seeking advice from all of you pros!.. Cheers!

Some of us bend our colas like that on purpose to cause the plant to shoot extra energy out to the cola for repairs and it makes bud happy a swollen. A yoyo from above and splint on some is the easiest way to hold em up after. Unless you have someone else to care for the buds while you are gone I would start figuring timing out because you can’t just cut em down throw em in something. They have to be dried trimmed Jared and burping daily for at least a week and once a week for a couple more weeks. I don’t want to stress you out but if not me who?

Thanks MeEasy (still haven’t figured out how to tag a username in a post)… Right now my plan is to take them down this coming Thursday. That’ll leave 2 weeks for drying and a week of daily burping… I can find a way to burp once a week after that (I have 2 days off each week)…

… But just how does one burp a glass container?.. A plastic tuperware is easy, but I have no clue with a glass jar & lid… I told you guys I was a newbie!.. LoL!

Cheers!.. :beers:

Put @ & the people on your thead should apear click on one, if you want someone else just keep typing their user name & it will apear then click on that one. To burp a jar open the lid, some people kinda shake it a little to move the buds around, I just lay it on its side to help the carbon dioxide excape (its heavier than air) leave it a bit & close it back up. Baby has been burped!

Yes sir what he said

Ha!.. Thanks!.. I actually searched a vid for the “burping” after I wrote that, but wanted to conserve my posts… I was limited to 5 the other day when I signed-up and didn’t know when that restriction would be lifted. LoL!.. :upside_down_face:

Hi guys!..

Well, I cut the girls down today. Exactly 12 weeks from dropping the seeds in soil. All 3 autoflowers seemed to do pretty good I guess, which is really surprising with all of the mistakes I made during this 1st grow… Ha!

I did my best to follow all of the advice I’ve received from you all… I was only able to flush for 5 days, but they had been getting pure H20 for almost 2 weeks prior to the last feeding… 48-hrs in darkness and cutting w/i a minute of turning on the lights. Man, you could’a played circus music while watching me navigate a dark room getting ready for the cut, then throwing on the lights and cutting while partially blinded… LoL!..

… After a rough wet cut, they were hung in a dark closet with 2 small air purifiers (mostly for smell) and a small fan NOT blowing directly on the plants. Shooting for 66-68 degrees but unfortunately uncontrollable humidity may be an issue during drying. Prob 30-36%… Allowing 2 weeks to dry if needed, then will do the final trim before hitting the mason jars for curing… Does this seem about right to you guys? I’m just taking a WAG.

But I need your help again… I’m at a bit of a loss with this final trim… Obviously, the top buds are more developed, and will be easy to trim. But what about the lower plant development?.. Many seem “airy” with more air than substance. Is this stuff worth keeping since it will probably just crumble after it’s dried?.. Everything is for personal use so I’m more concerned with quality over quantity… I’m sure my 2nd grow will go better, but for now I need to know what to keep or toss… What do you all do?

… Thanx in advance for any replies… This forum is great! Heck, I wouldn’t have even gotten to this point without your tips!.. So Cheers!.. :sunglasses:

My friend used to give me all his loose buds that didn’t firm up, I used them to make edibles. They were perfect for it!

Looks like you’ve got a heck of a harvest there. Congrats! I agree with underthestairs. All my larf goes with any trim that has trichomes on it then I make edibles. Another option, you could snip off the larfy stuff mid dry (usually when the larf is dry enough) and leave the more dense buds on the stems. Take your larf and start to cure it by itself. It’s not the best stuff out there but it’s nice to have an “oh crap I’m low stash” on reserve.

Outstanding @Latitudes Without the support I received from amazing knowledgeable folks here, would not have even been able to harvest what I did manage.

Now on my second grow, I continue to learn and try things out. I think you will do the same.

You have a great set up and plan.

BE patient with the curing and you will be rewarded with some great medicine! :yum:

Continued success.

Thanks guys, once again I appreciate the tips!..

I’m 3 days into the drying process with temp rather stable at 66, but humidity is varying between 30-34%… 3 strains drying slightly differently.

I think I’ll take Jake’s advice with a mid-drying trim just to remove the fluff. But I’m really not into making edibles after my last attempt at it. LoL!.. Heck, I guess I could just roll it, I dunno… And will definitely have ZERO problem with the “patience” aspect due to other restrictions… :rage:

@PP3121 Could not say it any better about this forum!.. “x2!”

Cheers!..

Freeze the larf buds and trim. Go on amazon and order a cheaper set of bubble hash bags and make some hash out of the trim will taste so good that way. Super easy to do with a bucket ice water and a spoon and alot of stirring and chopping effects lol.

I just trimmed up a zkittles and w.w. autos from ilgm yesterday also. The zkittles was a twin plant and didnt come out so well small larfy buds but the widow came out amazing. Also chopped a crop king seeds blue cheese auto looks super similar to the w.w.v

I am fixing to start my second grow and am going to try the Bergman’s food and was wondering if it works well

Hi guys!.. Here’s where I am now…

After just 5 days hanging in fairly low uncontrollable humidity (approx 30% +/- at 65 degrees) they seemed pretty dry, so down they came for a trim and transition to jars…

So, for all 3 plants, all autos (White Widow, Gorilla Glue, and Zskittles) this was the yield:

White Widow: 10g good flower. 16g fluff.
Gorilla Glue: 11g good flower. 11g fluff.
Zskittles: 26g good flower. 12g fluff.
21g mixed shake.

… Being just my 1st grow, I honestly don’t have a real clue if this is a good or poor typical yield for Autos… Comments?.. And be brutally honest. I need to learn from my mistakes for the 2nd grow (in addition to getting a humidifier)!

Initially I went with pt-sized jars but realized they were too full, so I went with qt-size jars and have been burping daily (as suggested by many of the experts here on the forum) for only 5 days now.

But here’s the thing: The humidity in a few jars is only holding approx 50%, while a few are only at 60%. Ambient room temp is 64…

… So here are the questions for @Nicky @MeEasy @pillsbury @Jake3 @PP3121 @Mark0427 @ihays789 @Underthestairs and any of the other experts on the forum: … Sorry for being such a P.I.T.A. … :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

  1. Given the conditions listed above, should I continue daily burping? Currently, the smell of a few jars is a bit “grassy” while others are developing nicely.
  2. I have a few of the 62% Boveda packs… Now?.. When?
  3. There’s just only 2 weeks more that I can provide daily attention, after that it’ll be once per week. Given those poor perimeters, what should be my next step, other than planning better? Ha!
  4. I’ve read that Autos usually produce smaller yields and smaller buds. I can handle the small yield, but I’d like to get larger, denser buds… Y’all have seen my rookie progress posted above. What can you suggest I do differently for my 2nd grow?.. Let me have it!.. LoL!.. :sunglasses:

… Once again, as always, thanks so much for your tips. They really are greatly appreciated!..

I’m still new at this, but it looks to me like your relatively low yield is probably due to stretching your light a little thin.

Also still very new at this. Mine are going to be tiny compared to your overall size. I started with (generously from a friend) low quality lights, in a poorly setup space, with sludgy nutrients before my grow tent showed up many weeks into flower. A lot for plants to overcome. I’d be delighted with what you’ve pulled out of your setup.

I have used the shower method for curing gift bud. Seen it on this forum a couple times and felt great to read it. Get your bathroom steamed up and burp the jars in high humidity. Seals extra moisture in to help. I’ve never used the Bovida packs before. I did find that I needed small burps and checking moisture maybe an hour after because I had gotten a few jars too humid and even though I didn’t see anything one of them smelled a little mildewy. Great harvest!

I think your low on the yield but not too bad considering the stretch you had. I prefer to train my plants to stay on the shorter but wider side. I run. 2.5’x2.5’x5’ tent with a 150watt full spectrum LED and do 1-2 plants. Average about 2oz per plant. Until you really get in the groove with training and your water/nute schedule, you could be all over the place with yields. Training will help you make the most use of your light and space. It also can increase your overall yield. You’re on the right track so keep it up!!! And congratulations on your harvest!!!
