Newbie could use some help

Hello, All!
I am a new to this site and to growing. I’m not sure if this is where to jump in but i did not see where I could start my own thread. I have a David Banner Auto flower plant that has been above soil for 2 weeks. I think I goofed up by planting sprout in miracle grow potting soil. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
My plan wast to start indoors and plant in pot outdoors. I don’t have any measuring equipment yet or know how to use it. Any suggestions would be great! Sort of overwhelmed with all the reading I have done..I ordered some FFarms Ocean Forest soil to transplant iinto. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. Your seedling looks good. Goal here is to not overwater. You will need to be gentle during transplant. Ocean Forest is supposed to be on the hot side for autos…I use it for my photos. I add pearlite to the Ocean forest to increase drainage and make the soil more airy…3 parts OF and 1 part pearlite. You will not need to feed your seedling in that current pot…just water. The Ocean Forest will feed for 4 to six weeks once you transplant.

The hardest part is getting started. Good luck with your grow.

my two cents

Yes pretty much what he said, just remember Autos will do their own thing… they bud when they want to, they don’t need the sunlight cycle to bud, they just do their own thing… and sometimes they’ll say 70 to 77 days, I just harvested my blueberry “top bud” at 96 days so you just got to let them girls go until they say I’m ready… and you’re planting medium Miracle-Gro not the best but not going to hurt …when you transplant make sure that you don’t plant in what i call “hot soil” too much nutrients for the Young seedlings …sometimes it’ll kill, sometimes it’ll stunt them, I used Fox Farms Happy Frog, mixed in my own bat guano mix some perlite just a little since it already had some in and then some compost fertilizer.. so when the Roots start to stretch, they start getting into the nutrients soil down in the middle and bottom of the pots and I’m telling you when they hit that section they take off…, at the age your girl is now she could have some serious problems if you add to much ..well to muchanything, like nutrients the Happy Farms additive adding like bat guano tea, even adding too much water could cause some really bad damage.. just be really careful. Happy grown and welcome to the form

The plant looks good but I’m concerned with it being 2 weeks old. Are we talking 2 weeks above ground?

MG soil is fine and you won’t grow hairy palms using it. But don’t feed for at least 3 weeks or you risk nute burn. And feed a 50-80% solution at first, read your plant’s response, and adjust upward gradually. My opinion based on my experience only. Seedlings usually do great on water anyway. When they start vegging after a good root system develops, growth increases quickly and weekly feeding can commence. You’re off to a good start. Don’t over water or over feed.

Ok, so i was advised to get a PH meter. I picked up an Apera PH20. Now what do I do with it? I mean what aspects of growing will I need it in? My plan was to use rain water for the grow. How would I adjust the water PH if required?
Thanks Mully

I calibrated the meter, and measured my rain barrel water at 6.8. Do I need to do anything to adjust it

No need to adjust rainwater as it contains no appreciable salts to drive PH.

Be sure to always store meter in storage solution to prevent glass bulb cracking.
