Newbie 3rd auto run

It’s amazing to see the technology we have with lighting now, we have lighting that will supply enough Photosynthetic Active Radiation to hurt a plant in a hurry.
I remember back in the day you couldn’t get a HPS close enough to give too much light before heat stress, unless using a water cooled hood but that came with its own risks associated.
You can get a real decent light for $1 a watt, crazy.

Interesting… You got a good generalization to go by? Like… 150w/plant, or 30w/sq ft…
I know there’s lots of “rules of thumb” for photos, but what have you found with autos?

Iv found, not much more than 45dli.
Abiut 36watts a square foot.

Found 40 ish watts per square ft is rule of thumb so about 1000 watts for a 5x5

Very cool !!

I haven’t seen many people push more than about 700 in a 5x5, I believe spider farmers se7000 uses 730? And I believe Marshydro has one that uses 760? I could be wrong on those numbers I’m just going off of memory.
It’s a lot of light! That’s for sure!

The problem i run into is the sweet spot is a smaller footprint as the ts300 is more meant for a 4x4 for flowering anyway, at least thats what mars-hydro says, thats why I have 2 in the 5x5, I’d like to upgrade to a bar style light i think that would fill the tent better from corner to corner. Then I can throw one of the ts3000 lights in my 3x3, i also have been only running them at 75% power or there about when the plants ar in full flower , in veg i start at 20-25% when into 2nd week of flower then late flower bump to 75%. Not sure if this is the correct way but been working for me and distance maintained at 24".
Any advice tips tricks or criticism always welcomed :metal::+1::beers::100:

No that sounds about right, 75% is around 750 watts. You’re right on my friend!
Bar style lighting is a huge improvement! Amazing coverage with very low hot spots!
I really love my vipar spectra KS, they use H diodes while others are still behind on that.

Iv ran mine long hours running autos for almost two years and hasn’t let me down, and they are affordable enough.

I’ll definitely look into that. I like mars-hydro but always looking to save a little coin if i can. Appreciate your thoughts and time :grin:keep em growing growmie!! :metal::beers::100:

Mars hydro makes a great light, we are at the point with technology almost all manufacturers use lm301b/h. Sure some are built better to last longer but better technology will be out by the time it’s goes back and let’s face it we all itch to buy that new light that came out haha.
