New grower Flower stage bug questions

Sorry, what’s the question? I’ve been fighting little tiny caterpillars for over 2 months. I catch them quick, but they fall from trees. I douse my plants probably once a week just as precaution with Jack’s Dead Bug Juice, and give them a once over if I see them. They obviously tear up the leaves, but they will get in the buds and eat and poop and destroy those too.

This was right before she went in to full flower and a worm like half the size of a grain of rice killed the whole spot.

The worst part with those small caterpillars is they do like baby spiders and use a strand of web to migrate through the air. If you see webs, but no spiders, give it a looksie. I have best luck looking for pests on the leaves by going full idiot and laying down to look from the bottom up. The leaves are more transparent and it’s easier on my back.

I have nasty little caterpillars inch worm looking things imbedded in my buds on at least 2 of my 6 plants. I have lost some buds due to them crapping inside my buds and killing it. we cut them off. Now I am advised to use captain jacks dead bug to spray my plants. is that safe for my buds to be sprayed? or the safer caterpillar stuff ? Can they be sprayed directly on buds? I want to be able to kill before they ruin any more of my buds. But I am very nervous about spraying the buds itself for obvious reasons. I heard that neem oil is bad to the buds themselves so ill spray that on my newly flowering plants to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks its funny cause my boyfriend and I have been out there and Ive seen the webs thinking its a spider I walk away n BAM he finds a worm. Tomorrow we are fully inspecting all of them and then spraying the CJDB all over them if it is safe for the buds of course.

This is hysterical …as I have done this too …it works great

I asked you to chime in because I know of your extensive knowledge and expertise of having these little creatures in your life …

I see them around here …thankfully not yet on my girls …

From what I’ve read, Captain Jack’s is fine to use through flower. Just do a bud wash with peroxide and lemon juice at the end. Lots of great, easy videos for that. Neem oil is with a little dish soap in water is a common repellant, but it isn’t advised during flower because the buds absorb it and it doesn’t wash out. Suppose to effect the taste and overall quality to some degree.

Those little fxxxers are hell. I do a heavy spritz I guess you could say. Stand a couple feet back and spray upwards and then a quick round downwards. Since my buds really started forming, though, and getting covered with trichomes they stick to just the leaves. Still not good, but they literally can’t past the sugar leaves. Mothafxxxin trichomes.

I wouldn’t say it’s knowledge and expertise. More like a know your enemy type of thing. I sleep 50 feet away from animals that want to literally eat and destroy my medicine. Take no prisoners. Show no mercy.

But in all seriousness, stay on them. Keep a watchful eye. Jacks Dead Bug can be used every other day, mornings or evenings. I’ve switched evening because I find them mostly in the mornings. Use it every other day, somewhat liberally, until you’ve basically neutralized them. Then every 3 or 4 days a little more moderately. It’s a very fine mist so it does well penetrating thicker growth

So I’m hoping that since I most likely will not be growing much over the winter …
I can’t wait to smoke some of this home grown herb …and start painting again …
I’m gonna try to paint me some Bob Ross style landscape weed fields …
Maybe some detailed up close bud and trichome paintings …
Maybe an ol farm truck off to the side in front of some kind of barn…

Having these plants is like having little kids

lol you guys are awesome !!! Thank you both so much tomorrow I will look for those nasty suckers and ruin their day… I have 4 plants that are in flowering stage and 2 that are just starting to flower I might end up just spraying CJDB all over them just to be safe. I was looking into doing a rinse or wash at harvest time just to double check and make sure nothing else is in there.

Yeah I think outdoors a wash is necessary also indoors with fans blowing …look up close into your button tops in the pistols …guarantee you’ll wanna bud wash then lol

If they are outside, it is highly advised. I can’t really say much more than what I’ve experienced with the bugs, but I can tell you now, I’ll take a tiny hit off quality so I’m not smoking dead bugs and pesticide

They really are like taking care of children… My boyfriend named them and the 2 we have that are just hitting the flowering stage we call the twins lol He was worried when we had to cut some buds off. I mean it was extremely sad but until we figured out the problem we had no choice. I really appreciate the help/advise you guys have given me and I will know better for next year. I am excited to start from seed instead of clones.
Thank you both for you help!!!
