I’m doing a run of girl scout cookies extreme Auto flower and I believe I’m having a pH issue on a few and idk what is the use with the other one. The biggest and busiest one. It’s pale and have been droopy for weeks. But still growing and the stock is getting massive! I have been running 24-0 but decided to give them some rest changing to 20-4 with the new and more powerful led light I got today. I was running a 520 bloombeast and a wish led light. I got a new horticulture lighting group hlg 550 eco. I use urb and fox farm food at 1/2 what’s called for with using the urb. I added a gallon Epson salt water today to each of the effected ones as well. Can anyone help?
What’s your runoff pH and ppms?
The droopy plant is probably root bound.
I’ve not tested my run off. I did just do a transplant two days prior. I also put bamboo sticks and spread out the branches.
If you don’t know the pH, why do you think you have a pH issue?
If you’ve just transplanted it might droop from shock/root damage. Never fear she’ll spring back. Although that container is still a bit small for the size of her.
I agree.
I transplanted because it was droopy. It was droopy for almost a week and a half.
@MidwestGuy used that urb stuff. I think he had an issue with the dosage in another post. @MidwestGuy you think the issues here could be related ?
The container does state to reduce your typical food by 15 to 20% which I have decreased it by about 40%. Just to be sure. However I added Epsom salt to some water and it seems to have had a good reaction.
I just tested my run off tonight at a 5.4. my PPM 1313
What are you growing in? Soil, coco?
Soil. These are autos as well if it makes a difference
I got a bit of nute burn after I used the Urb. Nitrogen uptake, specifically. My leafs darkened and I got some tip burning.
Your pH is far too low. You want to be between 6.3-6.8; ideally 6.5
Okay so then that’s bringing up a huge question then. I pH my RO water to 6.4 before I add my nutes… Am I supposed to pH again after as well?
You adjust the pH after you add nutes, just before you feed them. Most nutes will drastically lower the pH of water.
Then you also test the runoff.
Well shoot. I been doing it all wrong! I don’t so much re searching I never went over the pH to much. I saw that my water needs to be ro water or distilled… A bunch of assuming it’s what I did. Kinda ashamed of myself rn… Live and learn!
edit: removed obscenity
@Jman420 I start with my well water which is about 6 pH I add my nutes which drives it down to about 5.2ph I use a few drops a pH up to get back to my sweet spot of 6.5. On just watering day I need very little ph up to get to 6.5
Don’t feel bad. It’s a common mistake.
RO/Distiilled water is neutral, it takes on the pH of the soil, so you don’t actually have to pH it before watering. You only have to pH it when you add nutes or supplements.
I’ll bet things get better once you’ve managed to get your pH in balance.
Thank you. I truly have been doing it wrong this entire time! Can’t wait to apply this change and see the results. How long should it should take, a day or two, to notice a recovery?
The best thing you can do is fluhs your plant and run 6.8 PH water (no higher!) until the run off is 6.5.
When it is read your tds and then you’ll have to feed again because you flushed all the nutrients out.
The issue your going to have is your growing in plastic pots so they hold mosture make sure to get some fabric pots 5 gallon minium.
If I was you I would poke a bunch of holes in the bottom sides of that plastic pot or drill them out before you flush.
