Need lighting advice for 4x4 space

Hi All,
I am somewhat of a beginner and I am in the process of upgrading my grow space. I am currently using a 2ftx4ft space with a MarsHydro 600w and Meizhi 300w reflector series for a combined approximate 400 watt draw from the wall. That covers my 8 square foot with 50 watts per foot. Now I am upgrading to a 4ft x 4ft space. I am looking for advice on what lights to add because I know that I do not have enough light for 16 square feet. What would you guys advise me to do with the lighting? I would like to utilize the lights I have but looking for suggestions. I was thinking of adding like a 260 watt HLG but don’t know if that is a good idea to use in conjunction with my other 2 lights.
Thanks for your help!

The QB will be a good addition to the tent and after a few runs, you’ll want all your lights to be high end leds. @dbrn32 is the best person to ask tho :v:

Sure. If you go with 260 kit get the xl kit with longer heatsink to use in a 4x4.

Awesome, thanks for the help. My last question (which I’m pretty sure I know the answer to) is, would getting that qb setup be a much better option than just getting 2 more led lights like I currently have.
Thanks again guys

Would you recommend the 3000k or 4000k on the 260xl. Thanks again

3000k for seed to flower. 4000k if using primary for vegetative cycle :v::bear:

^yep. Stay with 3000k or 3500k if you plan on flowering with it.

Thanks guys, now that you mentioned getting the xl for the larger heat sink I am now thinking of just getting the 320. That comes with the larger heat sink and 3 boards instead of 2. I have always believed in “buy once cry once” so why change now lol
If I do that I am thinking of running the 320 on a diagonal across the tent then each of my current LEDs on either side of it. Then eventually getting a second 320

That will work too.

Well I ordered the hlg 320xl. I also got in the 4x4 and have that set up now. How would you guys recommend setting up my lights. Do you think it would be better to put the hlg320xl across one side and my marshydro and meizhi on the other side. Or would it be better to put the 320xl on a diagonal from corner to corner then one of my other lights on either side.
Thanks again for the help

Since you’re growing in a square space, it shouldn’t matter too much how you align them, as long as the QB is in the middle :v:

OneSP–200led can work for your another 2’x4’ grow size, 200W draw power, it can replace 300W traditional led.

that is how i would do it.!!
try to center the 320w QB over 2.5 feet on one side and the Blurples over the remaining 1.5 ft, maybe push the fixtures out slightly closer to the sides (an inch or 2), the ‘shared lighting’ in the middle is more intense then around the sides, a cheap light/moisture meter can help with light placement.!

u will have the 320w over 2.5’ x 4’
the 600w over 1.5’ x 2.5’
and the 300w on 1.5’ x 1.5’

Thanks for the input. That is how I will set it up. Just waiting for the hlg to arrive now!

Hey guys thanks for all the help so far. I have my tent set up now with the hlg 320 xl on 1 side and my other 2 lihhts on the other side. My question now is how high should i run the hlg and on what intensity. Right now i have 3 autos and 2 fems in the tent. They are all seedlings between 4 and 7 days old. I have it really high probably 40 inches and probably only at 60% power. I didnt want to hurt the seedlings with to much power but the light didnt come with any info to help with that.
Thanks again guys

@dbrn32 @SlowOldGuy @Lpindians I’d like to know too. Thanks all.

Peace

More like 30" is probably good, then you can lower and/or increase intensity as they get more developed.
