Need input on Flowering

Hello all. As usual I’m looking to the experts for some guidance on my grow. This Jack Herer is 5 weeks since flip to 12/12. I know i have a way to go, but i’m thinking a good flush in 2 weeks then harvest sometime 2-3 weeks after that. Do those approximate time lines make sense based on this pic? As always thanks and best regards.

Flushing is unnecessary and many experienced growers don’t flush. There is little evidence that it actually impacts taste or smoothness.

If you do choose to flush, then do so the week before harvest. You don’t want your plant going 2 to 3 weeks without nutrients.

Experts should be along any minute…In the meantime, I am here.
Although seed banks give us an estimated lead time to harvest, these targets are based on perfect conditions grown commercially. I do not keep track of much although based on pic uploads, I know approximately where I am in any given grow. I just let her do her thing until she is ready to flip and then once the pistils turn brown/reddish and turn into the buds, I start looking at the trichs with a scope. Once I see 10-15% amber, I chop. Does not matter how long from anything. I am chopping this one Saturday and she is in her 26th week. Photo not auto but still the indicators are same.

As typing I see Midwest chimed in on the flush so I will just reiterate that, not neccessary unless there is a problem but to do it just to do it…No need or reason.

Good point. The only reason I ever flush is to correct a runoff pH problem. Flushing is also a good tool for addressing problems with high runoff PPM.

@MidwestGuy @Bonjoyle thanks for the quick response. i think this is the most frustrating and also the most interesting part of this home grow process. No matter WHAT the issue you’ll find voices on each side of the aisle. i did not flush on my first grow and was very pleased with the final product. But this time, somewhere during the early stages of the grow, I read a long, involved article about the benefits of flushing towards the end of flower period. Article made sense, so i thought i’d try it. Who knows. BTW beautiful picture @Bonjoyle. congrats on the plant and good luck with your harvest.

It is also hard to make a truly educated decision when something smells of “Bro” science with no actual data to back it up but here is an article from High Times that is referencing the actual study by RX Tech. A blind taste “smoke” test to see what the imbibers thought of the finished product.

and the research they referenced…

I am chopping that plant Saturday and watered her with 2 gallons last nite with 1/2 strength nutes. Only got about 15% run off.

I recently swapped from foxfarm nutes to jacks. I was having to do a flush every few weeks to rid the salt build up from the fox farm nutes. Are those flushes periodically throughout the grow still necessary with jacks?

Maintain a decent run off on feed days and no flush will be needed Brother :love_you_gesture:
