My strawberry is very slow

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks

“I started buying products last year. I had a lot of white widow seeds left from last year, that mostly split and started, but would not get past the primary growth stage, I am using either jiffy pots, or pods. Since I had no success with the dozen WW I ordered a fruit pack and split the purchase with my Brother. I had good luck with WW and strawberry kush in my greenhouse natural sun/led supplemented grow. I started the 5 strawberry and they have pushed right up out of the starting soil, but now 2 have fallen over. They are under a fluorescent light. I was hoping some of the ww would make it, but not to be, so I also started 1 blueberry 2 days after the stw, and it is double the size of the stw, and starting its 2 set of regular leafs while the stw are just going very slow. I followed the guide very closely. The water ph is about 5.9. Can you help?”

5.9 is good for growing in soiless mediums but you would need 6.5 in soil. Could be a slew of things hard to say? Maybe overwatering?

I am at a loss , the water in my tap is 5.9-6.1, and I have let them dry pretty well between watering. The seeds were small and barely looked mature, but they did start. on the other hand , the blueberry was a larger mature looking seed.It is in the exact same environment, and is kicking ass.I have started the 2 bb I have left, my brother has had no luck with his pineapple either, following guidelines by robert. Im getting frustrated. I have successfully grown for ten years, and never had these problems.

Thanks for your consideration.I have 2 stw kush that might make it,?They look weak, and are yellowing around the edges, While the bb is doing great in the same start pot, and soil, and in the same tray for watering from bottom to top .the Bb was started 2 days after the stw. I have to get some more seeds to catch outdoor season here. Jeff

I tried looking up your db stone seed starter mix, but I don’t find it online. What are the ingredients?

How are you measuring your pH?

I’m not sure what this means? @fisheye

Hi Bob, Its organic, for seeds and cuttings,
canadian spaghnum peat moss
perlite
dolomite lime and gypsum to help ensure a an optimum ph range and proper drainege and aeration.
Its just for starts or seeds

Does it tell you what the optimal pH range is?

hi bob I checked the bag, and the online description, and it does not give the PH, just states its right for starting. I got my ph from the municipality I live in, and bottled water, 6.5. i use them mixed 1/2

6.5 water is perfect (if you were growing in) soil. Do you have a pH meter? (A soil less grow is probably going to need 5.8 pH)

Get a glass put a couple of ph’d water. Add a spoon of your mix and see what the pH does.

He’s not growing in soil though, his “seed starter mix” is all soil less components.

It could be the “soil mix” and your pH, but it sounds like you could be over watering possibly.

Also, you can’t expect one strain to act like another. Or eat the same, or grow the same, etc. I personally know that Blueberry is known to be easier to grow, it can handle more abuse. With that being said, it could one of a hundred reasons why you’re not having success here.

I really wish I could give you more help here! Keep us updated!

It’s soiless but it’s the new pH adjusted soil less mix.

That’s why I said this

The last one we did ph’d right at 5.8 but I’m waiting for the results.

I’m going to clarify that post. @ktreez420
