On my 3 batch under my belt yet my sour d’s aren’t getting even close to the height of “59"” as described in the strain details on the ILGM seed bank. Not sure why I can’t get passed 30". I start inside under led 24 hours and about 3rd or 4th week of veg I take them outside to finish. Any ideas?
I’m inside , mine is 7 weeks at 9in tall , but 13in across both ways.
But there’s different pheno types within same strain. It is a sativa dominant strain but it doesn’t mean that they will always grow the same .
Instead of 24-0 light period try 18-6 or even 16-8 the first month .
Hopefully I’ve helped a lil
I’d suppose it depends on light. If your keeping the light close it won’t stretch so high. My plans so far (first grow) are 3x wider than high. Give or take.
The next grow I do in the winter will be exclusively in the tent under two 400 LED. I will definitely be grabbing a timer so I can experiment with light cycles. I’m thinking 18/4. Ty for the response.
I keep the lights about 18-24" from the plants with no burn so far or stretching. I had huge issues with stretching before I started using LED’s. Also I have noticed dark cycle maybe contributing to the lack of height. I have “measuring days”, every 4th day and have seen huge growth explosions once my plants are taken outside to finish out veg and flowering. My third and current grow of 2 SD are 60 days old from emerging and are 27.5" and 25.5". This batch I topped to hopefully increase yeild. I’m only looking at about a little less than 20 grams per plant that I’ve harvested in the past. My goal is to get atleast 28 grams per plant.
Here they are. Still feeding veggie once a week, day 60. I think they look pretty healthy, just short.
Still early. It’s only just now June; time to grow. She looks really pretty and healthy to me!
You need to train them more and veg them longer to get bushes… only way to do it…
Still new to topping and LST. I only topped one time on those (first time topping ever). I plan on winter growing inside a tent for a lot more of that hands on managing space restrictions. I was experimenting with cloning as well from topping and some how managed to get two to root. They are autos though so who knows if they will produce anything.
Auto’s will always be restricted to their own timeline… so no matter how much you try to veg them they will still flower and produce the way they will no matter what… not much you can do about that… if you want to grow big trees , you need to start using photo period Plants …so that way you can veg them as long as you want and LST them as much as you want and then put them into flower when you want too… that’s the only way to grow big trees… autoflowers were meant for somebody with little space and little time and not a lot has to be done to them to get them to finish other than just making sure they have the basics , but they’re on their own timeline and their own schedule…your at their mercy…
I don’t know if big is what I want, unless big means lots of yeild. Even still I am all about stealth. Larger one might be seen from the air which would be bad times…My tallest super silver haze autos turned out to be the weakest yield of 16 grams from one plant 33" tall. Sour d is appealing to me because it’s compact and dense, but per the description of the strain it states 59" tall I’m thinking I’m definitely doing something wrong if my tallest SD is not even half the height…Still a newb, need to master these autos.
Ya it sounds like you might need some help… more then likely your loving them to death…
Normal yield should be 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 oz’s without even trying with one plant…
It maybe my soil unfornately…I’m using Miracle Gro Moisture control potting mix because of convenience. I’ve been reading that it’s got fertilizer that is time released that might be messing things up. I maybe looking for a new medium next grow.
So I’m confused. Sour Diesel isn’t an auto, is it? No way an auto would ever get that big. . .
and if they aren’t autos, then they’re going to get bigger.
If you’re using Autos it can be a problem because they only have their own time schedule and so you would have to be more on top of your a game with that soil… but as far as photo period Plants , I grew for years with Moisture Control Miracle-Gro soil with a few other additives and consistently got about three ounces per plant … so I wouldn’t blame it too much on the soil even though I know a lot of people say bad things about it… I’ve grown some really quality smoke with that soil so I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s the problem , unless you’re using autos because then you may not be using up all the nutrients adequately enough for their short veg cycle and I could see how it would lead to a lot of problems with autos…
sour d’s I bought were Fem, but I have a lot autos growing too.
