I just got a Eye Hortilux Blue MH…that bulb is crazy big. If I can remember I’ll get a comparison shot tomorrow. The HPS are a good size but should fit into any hood.
Nope, its bigger than a standard light bulb. E39. I have a converter but I am afraid to use it.
It should fit into a grow light hood made for those lights…base is larger than a standard bulb for sure.

to be able to use an e39 in a standard light (e26) bulb base? Not sure I’d feel too comfortable doing that either.
Do you have a ballast to power the HPS bulb? A complete HPS system is ballast, hood/reflector, and the bulb, sounds like you only have the bulb.

Yup all I have right now are two HPS bulbs. I am waiting for vivosun to email me back because I just ordered the flexible wing reflector so I am hoping they didn’t ship yet and I can swap it out for the one you recommended. Do I need something else? Like the thing to put the bulb into? OMG. Meanwhile my little seed grew a whole inch today! I just germinated them Sunday morning. All three had taproots but the one I put in the peat pot from a pot for a pot didn’t grow at all.

I would assume they are sending the hood and a ballast. Did you order direct or on Amazon? You need a ballast to power the whole thing. Bulb screws into the hood/reflector so no adapters are needed.
I ordered a Vivosun kit on Amazon…was about $160 for everything.

Directly from Vivosun. This is what I ordered exactly: VIVOSUN Adjustable Wing Reflector Fixture for HPS MH Grow Light Bulb. I’m just going to send the whole thing back and start over. I assume I wont need them until they grow much bigger, right? Can you send me a link to the one you got so I stop buying the wrong stuff. Thanks

It was an iPower…not vivosun. But same thing.

I can get the vivosun kit for 135.00 on there website. I have a coupon…lol Thank you for the link. Its a huge learning process.

This is what mine looks like…pretty much the same as vivosun. Bulb in hood is a Eye Hortilux Super HPS. And I forgot to snap a few pics of bulb sizes. 
ACInfinity 6” fan in the back and carbon will be installed in the front of the light…tonight hopefully if UPS gets their crap together. lol

Also…I did away with the hangers that came with the hood…I gained about 5” by drilling a couple holes and using ratchet hangers directly on the hood.
