My Organic Grow Journal

@MeEasy, this is a plant I culled about four weeks ahead of the switch on the tent. She started budding and I cleaned her up about a week ago or so.

I was considering bringing them in and setting them up somewhere and pulling the 100w lights but that kinda defeats the whole purpose of why I pulled them in the first place. But tonight is supposed to be the first freeze. I’d hate to watch them die. But I figured the girls in the tent should resemble this plant when I’m done.

Probably wouldn’t make it through a freeze but you already have bugs inside you are risking more taking them in. Maybe if you have a place away from the other plants

Yea I hear you they wouldn’t fit in the tent if I tried. If I bring them in. They are going on a completely different floor and room. It really depends on the smell to be honest. I think I’m gonna grab one of the small lights out of the tent. I’ll still have over 300w in the tent with the just the two lights. I’ll have to play around with lights with the one off before making the move.

Those girls look good. I focus on fan leaves blocking bud sites and anything lower thats not gonna be worth any bud. So she focus more on the top.

I’m sorry about the outside ladies on not completing flower but you can let her ride and mayb she will make it. If u move her in like @MeEasy said you might bring more problem inside

Yea I agree. I also just got done adjusting the lights I can’t really afford to loose one. I’ll be compromising the quality. I’m pulling 800 ppfd around the outside and about 1100 in the middle. It’s definitely tricky adjusting everything to get a decent average along the whole canopy. I have a pretty good plan on what’s getting snipped.
@dbrn32 I have a question for the light man though. What’s more important, DLI or PPFD. When I was adjusting the lights to get a DLI in the 30s I was loosing out on my ppfd average. Like barely hitting the 700s in the center of the tent and high 400s around the outside. But when adjusting to the hitting the right ppfd it put my dli up into the 50s in the center.
Should I just find a happy medium and role with it? What’s your take on it? Thanks for the help.

Dli should be based on your ppfd average. So you can’t really have one without the other.

Understood thanks for the assurance.

So got home from work today. One plant looks super vigorous and can see more stretch in her. And well the other girl dropped another 5/6 leaves and can definitely see tricome growth in 24 hours. I have a couple concerns though.

The smaller plant that seems to be a little further along dropping leaves as a natural defoliation or am I showing a deficiency? I’m pretty sure they have thrips. I could only really find one good leaf that looked like a colony or eggs(not really sure). Also the smaller plant some of the pistols(I’m sure I’m spelling it wrong) are brown on the tips. Maybe caused by light stress?
I’m planning on doing a heavy defoliation on both plants. Should I wait or is the plant telling me to “please give me a hair cut”

Ok before I start freaking out. When I got home today I pulled up my alfalfa staw mulch to check the dirts moisture level and the soil was basically moving. There’s hundreds of little mites or spiders it looks like. Crawling all through my top feeder roots. Some were white and others were brownish red in color.
I’ve been treating with Capt jacks dead bug liquid spray. Also doing a soil drench with sns 209 as well with mosquito bit liquid.
Now this is my first organic grow and not sure if what I’m seeing is ok. I have a big feeling it’s not. I tried zooming in with my camera the best I could. I have some Capt Jacks dead bug powder left from my outdoor grow. Should I try applying under the mulch and mixing it into the top layer. I also really don’t want to disrupt the top roots that are going. But it looks like I have too.
What are my best options for treatment? Should I get some D earth powder or do a neem oil drench or just keep up with the SNS. It doesn’t look like anything I’ve done has actually done anything to prevent or kill. Please need some feed back. I really don’t want to mess with micro biology that I’ve worked to build this far unless I absolutely have too. Also what’s the best way to apply the bits? Soak and drench soil with just liquid correct?
Everyone’s help is greatly greatly appreciated. Thank you.

One more thing could I mix the bits water with SNS in the same drench? I’ve been using distilled water when applying the bio controls and feeding with treated and ph’d tap to feed.

They look to me like spider mites but my eyes :eyes: and this small screen don’t make for a good team. I’m not familiar with sns so can’t help with that the bit juice works for gnats but won’t help with other bugs

How about a neem oil drench in the soil? @MeEasy

I’ve used neem as a spray but not a drench so I’m no help

Word. I know spraying in flower is a big No no for now I’m going to try some of the dead bug powder sifted over the dirt. And then water in some more bits and SNS. I posted a picture of the ingredients earlier. It’s basically rosemary oil. The bottle lists a lot of pests and it’s supposed to be safe. If I see no improvement I’ll go grab some DE dust tomorrow.

I’ve just been pretty lucky not to have to deal with bugs much other than gnats of course so I don’t know alot about dealing with them with all these new products. I know a lot of people are using capitan jacks dead bug, lost coast yes I do know not to spray neem on flowers 4sure. I have used stuff like alcohol, peroxide de and even milk in the past

Yea I think the peroxide kills all the microbes in the soil though.

@MeEasy So upon further research I’m pretty sure they are soil mites. If I’m correct they are beneficial. They eat fungus and help break down organic matter in the soil. Ie my straw mulch. Could be completely wrong but I was up pretty late looking into it.

I think that the soil mites are kinda clear not colored the only colored ones I have seen ended up being spider mites. Like I said I’m not good with this stuff @Lacewing is really good with bugs. I haven’t seen him around lately, there’s another person who was helping my buddy out I’ll go back to his thread and try to find the name of the person. Give me a minute

I skimmed back over @MO_Grow417 thread and couldn’t find who it was so it must have been another thread I saw the other person. Now I tagged mo and he dealt with bugs a little while back and he learned alot in his fight with them I tagged him so I’m sure he’ll stop by but he’s been busy and hasn’t been around much lately either. Damn all my friends are leaving  hope it’s not me

Check out root aphids and see if they’re not like your pictures I saw them in a picture on mo’s thread when I skimmed through just now
