My friend gave me old seeds will they germinate?

I had some from Amsterdam myself and they were about 10 yrs old. I was stupid and didn’t soak them first. I was in a rush and soil planted and nothing sprouted. Soak those bitches in peroxide and distilled water in a warm place. I should of did that but always sprouted in soil. So after wasting a 7-10 days I got new seed and they popped tails within 3 days. They are outside now as seedlings in 96 degree heat :joy:why I’m so dumb I’ll never know.

Hi I have some old ones someone gave me too 4 one didn’t come up after 2 weeks so I pretty sure it won’t , so now waiting to see just planted others three , we will see good luck

Still soaking. They’re all floating now so that’s different. Nothing has sprouted yet. 24 hours in. Should I let them soak longer?

I’ve seen this as well and read about a plant grown from 32,000 year old seed. Seems like the key to most of these old seeds still being viable is that they were frozen or preserved in some way.

Wish I had kept all my old seeds in the freezer, think I will from now on.

I’ve had many seeds 10 years and older that I’ve tried to germinate without any luck.

You might try soaking your seeds in coconut water, read that may help with reviving old seeds though I never tried it myself.

Yes let em soak until they drop to the bottom of the glass. Then give it a day or few. Peroxide is the key and a warm place that’s dark. That should do it as when I did that they popped immediately.

Seeds have not sprouted but they did sink so I threw them in paper towel and put them in a Tupperware on back porch where it’s warm inside a dark box. Hopefully that helps.

Hi tried with some old seeds a friend gave me once one started but then died I think the soil I used was not good for it but not really sure they all germinated but none grow out of them hope you have better luck :v:
