I started with soil, went to coco then do a few winter runs with a DIY Aeroponic system but mainly stick with coco 75% of the time. Congrats on the upcoming retirement, I’m a few years away
Few more pics showing the girls bouncing back after the trauma of being trained some more for outward growth and removing any leaves covering bud sites. I hate taking off any leaves at this stage of growth but I like buds growing way more. Sometimes you have to choose which you like more.
I use these types of forums as much for myself as to share the pictures of a project. Always nice to go back and watch the progress later on (even a few weeks later) to renew your faith in the process. Cheers
Good looking canopies Brother
OGincognito… thanks
A little plant I grew in my DIY Aeroponic last winter. Gelato auto and gave 12 zips of some good bud. I’m a huge fan of the old school herb we used to smoke back in the 70s. Columbian Gold, Acapulco Gold, Panama Red and some others. I’ve been searching small land race breeders for a while and have found some seeds from plants that resemble those. I crossed a Kona Gold and Columbian Gold with a male Panama Red and flowering a few of that cross at the moment. It’s been a process for sure
o
@OGIncognito . Right on. Yeah I only knew/know the old school strains as i had to quit smoking in the 80’s due to job drug testing. Gave up one of the great loves of my life. Well, getting real close to the end of my career so it’s about to be game on. The plant you grew last winter look spectacular to me. If my plants could give me half that much i would be ecstatic.
Later,
Wayne
Like wise. I joined the Marine Corps in 1982 and they started the whizz quiz in 84. Retired in 2003 and fired a big fatty up, I still have to be careful with my current employer
Oooh Rahh Marine. I joined the corps in 76, and got out in 80. No testing back then (good thing).
Semper Fi Brother, old cannon cocker myself
106 MM Recoiless Rifleman here.
Right on Brother . I’ll tag you on my journal if you’re interested
I cut my teeth on 175mm howitzers , then 155mm howitzers🤟
Sure thing. I’m looking forward to having someone here I can ask for assistance or guidance as needed. My growing experience was from the early 80’s and consisted of digging a hole in the ground and placing my small plants grown on a windowsill in the dirt, watering with a hose, and giving them a little “miracle grow” now and then. Sheesh, surprised anything lived.
I hear ya, I dabbled with some outdoor gorilla grows in 2009-2010 when I was laid off. Man did I have a lot to learn moving indoors. You’re in a great place with duty experts on damn near every aspect of the grow and helped me out tremendously when I joined and still do
I do have one question for you or anyone else who wants to chime in. I have supercropped my girls out so that every branch is horizontal and bud sites are growing vertical. My question is how tall should I let the canopy grow before installing the trellis netting and also how tall before I flip the light cycle to 12/12? Right now the girls are about 7-9 inches above the top of the grow buckets. I’m thinking I should let them grow to about 18 tall but what do I really know. Right now I have about 30 inches between the top of the plants to the lights and at least 24 inches of space above that I can raise the light if/when needed.
Tagging a Grow Bro that’s mastered the SCROG @low I top and LST all my plants
Appreciate you @OGIncognito
@Cooper
Do you have a way of measuring light to know how close you can get?
Keep the net as rigid as possible and as low as you can get while allowing yourself room for maintenance.
How tall a plant can stretch is really strain dependent so you want to keep it low in the event it has a ridiculous stretch. However there is a trade off with a low screen. That’s time. Generally the closer you are to the medium/bucket/whatever it may be the longer it takes to fill the net. This means lots of maintenance and tucking. But going this route can reduce stretch overall.
I’d pick a place 10-12” away from the top of the bucket. Tight net. You want it to be taught to control the plant as much as possible. I like to flip after filling the net 90%+ once you flip and enter transition, some plants might stretch a foot or less, some might stretch a couple feet. This is completely strain dependent. Actually almost seed to seed basis.
Take measurements of the total available space from the top of the bucket to your light in its highest position. Subtract how much distance is needed from the light to the canopy. After you have your available headroom figured out divide that by 3. Get as close as you can get your net to that number in the event it triples in size.
Congrats on the retirement!
