MultiverseBeans grow for a new grower

And a good morning to you as well. She’s looking great man. You could wait to feed till she fills in that pot a little more. You used the BAS 3.0 recipe and mixed it yourself didn’t you, or am i remembering wrong?
Very jealous of the new par meter. I Just bought a new rosin press, after it shipped it occurred to me I should have waited another month and spent the money on a the fancy par meter I’ve been wanting since the day I moved the grow inside.

Just looked up prices on the press and it’s just like the photo bio, enough to make it hurt a little lol. I wish I purchased buildasoil 3.0 or some pre-amended mix but this was just organic potting mix with some of my worm castings. Since I had a herm that I pulled in it prior it’s gotten about four top dress of craft blend and just did a half dose of buildabloom last watering. I just noticed a slight dark color on the outside of the leaves and didn’t know if was a deficiency or over nute. I would say I could let you borrow it to just do a couple parameters but I’m unsure how to trade info and it’s a little scary sending off a $160 tool

Nope, usually darker green leaves indicate that they are rich in N. The slight claw on the leaf would agree. Maybe just a tad high given the claw. Younger plants are also a little less tolerant until they get comfy in their pot.
I appreciate the offer, but the reason I haven’t gotten one yet is because I learned to grow without one and I’m pretty familiar with my lights so it’s not a high priority. I didn’t realize the photobio was so affordable. I’ve heard others speak well of them so I may settle for one of those in place of the apogee. I have a fetish for top shelf equipment though. If I could find a way to make money with it I’d buy the apogee with no regrets.

Oh this dark is like black/purple I thought the entire leaf would look but looking at it now I do see the clawing downward and pretty sure that’s what’s going on so thank you I probably won’t give anymore nutes the rest of the grow. Does over nitrogen slow anything in the plants cycle? It’s just an auto so my concern is it stopping it any way.

I’ve done a lot of research on the two products and while apogee does seem to be the most accurate I can’t justify it for my little one plant personal use.

Yes, it can slow the plant a little, but as the plant gets bigger it will acclimate and use some of it up. Your probably fine. Just keep an eye on it and watch for the new growth to improve.

I get that. I have some friends that chip in on new grow stuff and I live a pretty broke existance so I can afford all the cool grow toys with enough saving.

The dark leaves themselves aren’t a big deal. This one is under the plant so it has a pretty even color but if the leaf is getting alot of light it’s not uncommon for a leaf to have lighter patches here and there from the light. Like this one that is on the top of the same plant.

Damn man I’m glad you saw my post and commented. Seeing this new growth you definitely saved my plant from me over “loving” it.

Day 26-

Still have an unknown issue but just going to let it ride because it’s still growing. I know it has nitrogen toxicity due to the clawing but the staining of leaves doesn’t make sense to me besides the humidifier hits there or where I water. Either way the Titan 9 is living up to its name.

I’ve already topped the plant and removed bottom two nodes so I did a little LST for my last training on the plant entirely. Did I do a good job? Any pointers are appreciated.

I also increased my PPFD to 830 but uncertain if it’s too early for flowering intensity. What should VPD be, I have a hard time being an auto knowing when it’s flowering even though I’m seeing a fair amount of calyxes.

Have a good day growmies

what is your environment like these days? is the humidifier blowing mist directly at the plant? that would be my first guess. Lst looks good. The main point is keeping the apical growth relatively even. Beyond making it easier to light it also promotes even growth. If one branch gets significantly taller than the others then it will produce a hormone that suppresses growth in the lower nodes.

Currently 83 degrees with 64 humidity putting around 1.2 VPD. I read that you want it to be warmer with LED’s. These guys did a TON of research on different lighting setups and how they affect the leaf temperatures. Leaf Surface Temperature with HPS, MH, CFL and LED Grow Lights – Black Dog LED

Pretty interesting, never heard of that. I ended up using a scrog net as well so hopefully not overkill.

To keep it from misting the lights I have a fan that pushes it in its direction but the leaves most hit by it are looking okay. The other plant that doesn’t get direct humidity steam on it and has same issue, it’s really odd. Recharge came today snd I’m due for a watering tmrw or next day so I’m hoping it works some magic.

My next guess would be wind burn from the fan. I usually blow air around the plant, rather than directly at it. If the leaves are doing much more than a gentle flutter it’s probably too much.
Cool test, but I don’t see them proving anything other than more efficient spectrum wastes less energy in the form of heat. That’s a pretty well known scientific principle, they just frame it differently. I also notice that they do not test horticultural leds other than their own burple lights. Just a high wattage white LED and they don’t even tell us the model of the one used or give much info on the tools used or measurement protocol. First they say you can save money by running less AC ,Then they say there are too many variables to account for to really know what optimal leaf temp is, but here are some studies that studied one plant that MIGHT be related. One of those studies used leaf temp as a variable among many others to study gas exchange not ideal leaf temps and the other is on the effects of shade and makes no mention of ideal leaf temps which is supposed to be the topic at hand, but I can’t say for sure since it requires a subscription to read more than the abstract. Add all that confusion together and it seems more like someone gave the marketing team a FLIR camera and said go nuts, than an actual scientific experiment to prove a hypothesis. I suppose they did prove that leaf temps were slightly lower with burple lights, but we already knew that and they certainly didn’t prove that kicking your thermostat up 9 degrees makes better plants.
Most of my research seems to fall into the many variables category. There are so many variables that affect quality and yield of any plant that it seems silly to say that the optimum leaf temp is X when there are so many factors that change what optimum is and they are changing all the time. It seems like saying I’ll win the powerball if I just use last weeks numbers, but then you only fill in one number. For these reasons I don’t worry too much about perfect leaf temp or VPD. Close is close enough. No matter what you do there will always be a limiting factor in a plant and temp really is one of the smaller ones when everything else is in order.

I think it’s the specific hormone is the main auxin IAA if you want to know more. The main reason for topping is to remove the the highest point on the plant where it is manufactured and thus removing it from the equation until the plant heals and begins to produce it in another high point on the plant. That’s my understanding of it anyway.

I respect you took the time to read all of that, true learning man. To be honest I was on Mobile and quick scrolled this article to the conclusions but now I am seeing people are saying the Leaf temperature runs 10 degrees warmer than with other forms of lighting. I swear ive read what is stated earlier, thats the victim of information for you. My A/C in the home is set for 76 and I cant see putting it much lower being feasible with the 93 degrees we got here in Florida right now. It seems as if i need to run my cool air humidifer the entire grow just to keep temps ideal because it will only get hotter once that cold mist isnt going. I see why people get overpowered lights for a tent now, I thought two 100 watts wouldve been perfect.

I think im getting there with that sentiment, I dont have the correct setup with the exhaust and everything but making due with what i have. Flower is where i get scared running my humidifier but ive read as long as airflow is good I shouldnt fret. Too many places say the temps and humidity to a t as if outside isnt hot as balls lol

Last night wasn’t a great night for me. I don’t sleep much and I have a few other chronic issues that get pretty uncomfortable sometimes. When things get bad I’ll do research or surf the forum in search of a meaty topic that I really have to think about. It helps to try to keep my mind focused on something besides my own discomfort. So thanks for giving me something to dig into. It sure made my night nicer.

I think I mostly agree with that, but I would still err on the side of caution. I personally have run 55%-60% quite a few times through flower with 0 issues. I did defoliate heavily once buds started forming, had lots of air circulation as well as exchange, Kept a very close eye on them, never allowed a drop of moisture on any surface of the plant, lowered the temp as they flowered(68 degrees consistent by the end) and I still had food grade H2O2 on hand and ready in case I did see an issue. In addition there isn’t much microbial activity here in the high desert. The air is dry. The soil is dry and irradiated from the lack of ground cover. The solar radiation is intense with no clouds and 7000’ less atmosphere to filter the suns rays. There are fewer bugs and critters to spread spores and bacteria. All that being said I’m not sure what you can get away with in the swamp nut capital of the country.

Sorry to hear that man, bud doesn’t usually help you pass out? My mom deals with restless sleep syndrome and has to use a breathing machine for sleep apnea, not sure how she ends up falling asleep. Hope you’re able to fix whatever ails you, sleep is crucial for my mood.

Man you’re lucky I think just last year we were having flesh eating algae blooms lol

Lol looks like you already know what I’m dealing with in Florida. Walk for ten minutes outside and get the fromunda going.

Sometimes it helps, but I’ve never been one of those people sedatives work on. I once bloodied a nurses nose when I woke up from anesthesia during oral surgery. My dad had to literally sit on me and buckle himself in on the way to the endodontist after. I was determined to get out of the car on the highway. Every fiber of my being fights unconsciousness to the bitter end. I’ve been that way since the day I was born. Even the mice running across the floor at night wake me up from a dead sleep every time.

I lived in Vero Beach for a year in high school. I did enjoy hanging in the keys, but other than that I consider Florida to be the taint of the nation. I just could not adapt coming from the land of the sand people. Oh and the fishing, I did like being able catch a thousand different species of fish without going more than 100 yards from my house.

Is this from anxiety attacks? Because I can see sedatives not having much effect when your heart won’t calm itself down. They just put my wife on some heart meds to help her irregular heartbeat and it slows her heart down so much she gets really sleepy.

You would be one of the soldiers I would be afraid to wake up for guard duty, so many people got punched in the face because they startled someone awake lol

I was born and raised in Jensen beach so I wasn’t too far from you, cool to see someone familiar with my area here.

I would say the weather is the only taintish thing up until recently, theres a massive wave of new people moving here and 85% of them suck.

Day 28-

Officially in flower! This is my first time making it to this stage because my last 23 day old auto was a true herm. It’s insane to see the sheer size different of a plant that’s three days younger than the plant to the right.

Removed the tie downs and just went the scrog route because seemed easier, until it came to watering lol. All in all I’m happy with this grow so far and appreciate the input from people.

No, I’ve experienced a few in my life but I could probably count them on one hand if I really tried. Around the time I was 12 my parents had me institutionalized for a while. During that time I was given a slew of diagnoses from various sensory disorders to aspergers syndrome to Bipolar disorder. For the most part after I got out I had an absolute hatred for all those labels, medications, and all things “doctor” that made me feel like there was something wrong with me or I didn’t belong in this world. Not that I was suicidal or anything I just felt like an alien and had no connection to the world around me. Anyway, in college I want down a bad road, failed out and fell off the deep end, Thank God I had 1 good friend from high school with the balls to beat some sense into me. Quit all substances, moved, and tried to hit the reset button. 6 months later somthing in my body broke and I went from 230lbs to about 120lbs in a couple short months. The doctors kept telling me it’s all in my head(which was only half true and being categorically dismissed by those who are supposed to heal does nothing to help illness weather mental or physical). I honestly don’t think they believed my story even though I was swimming in my own skin and regularly hospitalized for dehydration and malnutrition. That same friend from earlier came to visit me and he remarked that I should just smoke some weed. It might save my life. Again he was right. I went back home with him got stoned and ate the good meal in months with no illness pain or side effects. It didn’t cure me, but it made the day to day more manageable. So I moved back home with him and his dad. He brought me into a co op of growers that showed me love and compassion. For the first time in my life I felt I had that connection to the world around me and I was different not broken. 15 years later and I still have a lot of issues eating, but with a little faith, good diet, some fine kind, and a better outlook on life, I can maintain a healthy weight and live a pretty happy life without the BS the doctors kept trying to force down my throat. I doubt I will ever trust them again.

absolutely, I didn’t mean to insult any of you Florida boys. I met a lot of very nice people out there. It was the weather and one terrible teacher that ruined Fl. for me. The quality of healthcare and medical professionals ( at least at that time) made the sadists here in NM look like Josef Mengele.

Glad to see you’re in a better head space and get to see how far you’ve come over the years. I know all about the bs dealing with healthcare professionals through the VA. For years they tried misdiagnosing me with adhd, bipolar and social anxiety. Wasn’t until I went to a therapist outside the VA and submitted that information they finally recognized me with the PTSD diagnosis. Can also say smoking helps me in many ways unless I get “too high” then I get a little anxious.

I would say extreme depression is what did it if you’re not experiencing that same level of weight loss. Still weird to think that “it’s in your head” was a good way to handle that situation.

Oh ya I forgot the best part, The first doc told me smoking weed would kill me in a matter of months when I asked about a med card. I just can’t believe the audacity of some the physicians I have had the displeasure of dealing with. Both in my problems and my mothers, she had it worse than I did too. Now I’ve seen my father go from a brilliant hard working aerospace engineer to a drooling idiot that can’t even finish a thought half the time. Because some quack told him weed bad but milk of the poppy good. He just wanted the ruptured disk in his back to stop hurting. The whole system is just wrong on every level.

It was defiantly a huge part of the problem. The year long bender before hand certainly didn’t help, I know it had a profound effect on my once formidable intelligence. So many brain cells I will never see again. I still can’t gain weight. I long to be fat again so people won’t expect me to do stuff and fit in small spaces. and I still have a lot of intestinal issues that flare up a few time a year, but diet helps a lot there and I mostly write it off as the consequences of a misspent youth.
