Mephisto or ilgm

8 months later lol… I’ve had great luck with ilgm and mephisto but mephisto wins. Night owl is pretty much the new mephisto

One grow ilgm autos, no runoff, no testing, no meters, no dli, less is better and we produced a qp per 3 banana kush autos, 12/12 lights

Now, 2 more for chop, runtz and wedding cake. Same, less is better.

All started flowering at 25 days, Mephisto flowers sooner?

Does Mephisto have weird names like meat breathe or russian blood pie.

If they do, would you wear meat pie for a cologne? Not gonna grow it either. Dont sound pleasing. Jmo

Mephisto vs ILGM is a very interesting question for me, because those are pretty much the only two companies who’s seeds I grow.

Mephisto gets the nod when it comes to the quality of the end product and ridiculous trichome coverage, there’s no doubt there, but ILGM has a few advantages of it’s own. While Mephistos buds are top notch, the overall plants can be more a pain in the ass to grow. I think they focused so much attention on building great buds and maybe not enough on the plants structure. In general, my ILGM plants have considerably thicker stalks and stems than my Mephisto ones, and almost never require any staking or bracing. On the contrary, I usually need to start propping up my Mephisto plants once buds start putting on real weight because the branches are on the thinner side.

The other advantage I’d give to ILGM is seedling durability. Like I was saying above, it seems ILGM’s plants have a better all around structure, from beginning to end. While Mephisto is known for superior genetics, they’re also famous for seedlings that start out very funky sometimes, and are finicky and require an experienced hand to guide them through the critical first couple of weeks, and as we all know, if you want good successful autos the first few weeks are paramount! ILGM seedlings almost never have any issues at all for me, they just march along as if everything is perfect.

I’ll sum it up with this very important tidbit. The yields are extremely close to even after dozens of plants from both breeders. Sometimes the Mephistos produce a bit more, sometimes the ILGM do, but it’s definitely very close to a tie! Bottom line here is that you won’t be disappointed if you choose to grow ILGM or Mephisto autoflowers!

Hey @GrowingIs4Everyone, just curious if your statement is based on personal experience or what you read on their website?
I love Mephisto Genetics and I’ve grown dozens of their plants. I find all the info on their site to be far more detailed and accurate than other breeders except for one thing, the finish times! I’m not complaining because the results kick ass, but every single Mephisto plant I’ve grown has taken on average 90 to 100 days or more to finish, even the ones that they claim are 60 to 70 day plants. So I’m just curious if you’ve actually had some finish faster.

Hey man I just finished a harvest of grape Crinkle and Creme De La Chem and they were both right around that 70ish day mark. They run 24 hours of light so if you don’t it may take a few extra days. I run 20 which I guess was close enough to put me towards the end of the range.

Creme De La Chem has been an awesome strain for me, delicious every time. I just checked my journals for my first grow with It, and they went 97 days. The next time I grew them they went 89 days. I’m sure I could have taken them a bit earlier, but I waited for full ripeness.

I run my lights 24/7 for the first few days above ground and then go to 16 on 8 off for the rest of the grow and keep my PPFD in range for the DLI I want based on the 16 hours of on time.

I have some 4 Assed Monkey’s, 24 Carat’s, Gold Glues, and Forgotten Cookies going currently. In week 9 right now, and looking like they’ll need around 100 days at least, but definitely worth the wait!

Capt. Thank you for valueable insight.

Is it possible that light cycles are producing the fast harvest times.

To be fair, one person having adequate lights, or soso lights will drive finishing times for all based on equipment, possible mediums, other physical plant strain likes, dislikes.

I have never heard the comparison on health factors, the stems strength or weaknesses and such. With that said, one must ask alot of questions of the grower to get all the facts.

Yalls questions and answers are eye opening.

@Mosca, I couldn’t say for sure, but my thoughts are if you’re reaching the DLI you want and your plants are getting the total light they need it shouldn’t matter much how you divide up the on/off hours. If you want to keep your light intensity a bit lower, you make the lights on period a little longer. If you prefer to hit them with higher intensity light you can shorten the time it’s on. For me, I feel 16/8 at an average PPFD between 700 - 850 across the canopy works perfectly for my autos.

Just your comparison of 2 seed companies the strength of the stem was eye opening.

We are inexperienced growers. Thanks for your observation.
