Memorial Day Is For the Memories of Those Who Sacrificed For Us

Please leave a spot open in your heart and a memory for those who sacrificed everything for our freedoms. I lost an uncle to WW2 when an explosion rocked their position in Luzon, Philippines. He was my Mom’s Brother. She left a place setting for him during events like Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

My Dad was also drafted during WW2, so I feel lucky to even be here. He went to basic training somewhere in Louisiana and was sent to Germany to guard supply trains. The war was over 2 weeks after he got there.

Thanks for posting this. It’s way too easy nowadays to forget the meaning of this holiday. Many before us gave it all up leaving wives and children to answer a call not knowing their fate.
