I have a digital tool timer here that my sister left before she moved and it’s got so many buttons on I can’t see straight I’ve looked the name up the name of the timer up and tried to figure out the how to set it never could quite figure it out so I went and bought me a just a cheaper mechanical timer I think it was around 15 bucks or something and I hooked it up and I kind of really liked it it was simple to set up and it worked fine so I guess that’s what I’m going with that’s what I got on there now just wondering if anybody preferred you know digital to mechanical
You should use what ever works for you.
Ive been an electrical engineer for over 25yrs now. Every time they try to replace one of my old analog test sets with a shiny new digital one I ALWAYS convert back to old faithful. Digital timers will eventually mess you up. Analog timers are dependable
I prefer the dial type for lighting and fans, even if the power goes out, it will begin working again when power is restored, even if time is off, easy fix to rotate dial to correct time. Digital can require complete reprogramming, unless it has a battery backup memory system. @merlin44 had the wise answer, what works for you! Use what you are comfortable with and let them eat! I did just order monitor hubs for both grow areas, just so I can get alerts if a humidifier runs out or other environmental things get out of line. And I don’t have to be there to fix it, unless water is empty, that requires my presence. Lol
I use a grow controller from Vivosun they have built in memory so once everything’s set it runs even if electricity goes out it picks up right where its supposed to be. but as with anything work with what you got and with what works.
I prefer analong too.
I use all digital, but I do have a box of analog timers on hand for when the digital inevitably fails me at the most inconvenient time.
