Good morning @garrigan62
I have yet to make and use your super soil recipe as I needed to finish using the Kind soil I had already purchased but I am about to mix some up but have a question for you.

Is the soil to be used to fill the entire container or is this to be used in the bottom 1/3 of pot? And then fill the rest with just the stock roots organic like I have been when using the Kind Soil?

Knowing this will help me decide on how much to mix up for my next grow of Autos in 3 gallon pots and moving forward from there.

Also once mixed does it need to be cooked for a couple weeks to a month?

Thanks and good to see you back in the saddle here

I read on a journal here that when they were done harvesting they wished they would have filled half way , so that is what I did, looks like some strains can take the extra nitrogen well, some will stunt and don’t cut off the super big leaves too fast, they absorb and take the hit on the extra nitrogen. And I used the better mix he posted. hope that helps.

I grow in super soil. Got everything from start to finish.
This 3 cubic foot bale cosr me 65 bucks canadian

Then I make a simple tea
2:1 tea to water ratio

4 Litres RO
4 tablespoon super soil
4 tablespoon worm casting
1 tablespoon kelp meal
1 tablespoon blackstrap unsulphured

Let it bubble with an air stone for a day or two and then feed the girls. Plants are happy. Soil seems happy. Easy peasy.

This guys kind breaks down the whole super strength compost thing. The nutrients in soil in nature is on top not in the bottom. He kind of picks a part subcools soil recipe too. These guys know their shit…they build soils for a living. Interesting read none the less.

As for compost teas I use them but more for the placebo effect and to add some brix levels for my microbes and fungi to get some good eats. Maybe their working. Maybe their not. I cant say. I’m not a scientist. And I’m a new grower. Their definately not hurting anything. But you may be wasting your valuable time and resources. The internet is literally chalk full of articles and studies that compost tea is just a big myth.

And theres 10 or 20 more of these. Saying that compost itself or a good.soil, hotsoil, supersoil is more beneficial and has more microbes than tea ever could.

I see alot of organic growers who swear by the teas. So I’m not on either side of myth or not to be honest. But I do like to do my research and it’s all extremely enlightening if you have the time.

And all that said I do make compost tea like I mentioned above, but it doesnt hurt to hear both sides of the argument to decide if the extra energy, time and money, Is worth it.

Thank you for that info on heavy metals, wow very informative, no blood meal now, alfalfa meal instead, and I am on way to store to get other changes, ( I see two things I used that look duplicate to me) and may explain the nitrogen I am having now, thx, I have to have that super soil in bottom half of pot, after 6 week veg, roots are there where they need to be.

Yeah bro that’s just it. If it weren’t for subcools recipe I wouldnt even of considered supersoil. I was researching his TGA genetics or whatever and they mentioned supersoil he used. So did a bit of research and here i am on my first grow with supersoil and compost teas. Theres more than two ways to skin a cat. One of the coolest things about growing is getting a little better each day at what your doing whether is technique or knowledge.

yeah I agree one thing I’m doing is replacing blood meal with alfalfa meal . Also fish bone meal , remember seeing that at the store. I know I didn’t put Rock phosphate and the last batch but I do have that other stuff that has heavy metals and the humic acid. I’m going to tweak it a little bit. Thanks a million I appreciate this information very much

@garrigan62 cheers dude that’s awsome, you were able to get lots of people on the right track of growing organically with supersoil. I think that’s a really important step. Alot of experience growers get guys started on hydro or chemical salt based nutes…
Your plants look amazing to
Keep up the good work man, you can really tell you actually care about helping people rather than just giving them biased opinions.

I am not knocking it, and I did take some information from that article like the blood meal coming from slaughter houses that are nasty, and heavy metals in the rock dust, so I made some changes but you have to keep in mind that article is from “build a soil” and of course they want you to buy their soil ingredients and in this huge cannabis growing era a lot of money is to be made, so much is written and you have to be smart enough to sift thru it. I watched the u tube video and they use the same stuff it is just sourced from cleaner , healthier for smoking, and more alive type living soil. @garrigan62 shares the super soil recipe and grows with it for forum members to see and use it, from there you can decipher it, it is what it is.

Nice dude I looked them up, read though everything on the companies webpage about their tea. I cant find anywhere on their site where they get their ingredients or what’s in the tea exactly. Just says a scientific blend. Maybe I just missed it.

They say they have scientists with PHDs
but their “chief scientist” jeff chambless has zero published studies online.

This kind of stuff always makes me a bit nervous to be honest Will.
Companies that have done clinical studies on their products should be able to publish them.
Or at least list the ingredients.

That’s actually a reason why organic tea companies arent legally aloud to list the NPK ratios of their products as they have zero way of actually telling what it is because each batch is different.
I’ll see if I can do some more digging when I’m off work.

They also mention on their website
"Veganic Special Sauce is the perfect choice to add to your regime when you want to add the proven benefits from beneficial bacteria and MYCHORIZAL FUNGI.

All myco products are supposed to be in direct contact with roots during transplanting. Not sure why they would put it into a tea?
