Lucy is a Zombie, I stunted her pretty bad. She’s never been topped and her nodes are barely sprouting.
She almost dried up at one point and had bent over almost 90 degrees. I watered her and two hours later she was standing straight up! I wish I had a time lapse camera on her.

The plan is to see what I can do with one plant. Lucy D has 23 more days to pull it off or at least make it seem as if she will.

Day 45

What a difference 7 days makes. Here’s a side by side of day 38 and 45 in no particular order. See if you can tell which is which…

By past grow standards, I have never been able to go past day 47 for bloom because of space issues. Generally there were two plants and I still had to factor in stretch. There are minimally 11 days left to veg, maximum 20 days.

My net will likely go up by Friday (Day 49). I’ve never used it perfectly correctly, but I will be trying once again.

Day 50

Hello again and welcome back. This and my last post span 10 days so a lot has happened. My special guest arrived a week ago and has been installed and is now fully operational as of this morning… a light mover (below).

Lucy D has gotten big enough so my net has been installed with an increased emphasis on bending and super cropping this grow (also below).

But first a quick health update. Lucy D developed a magnesium deficiency EVEN THOUGH my ppms looked good and my pH was right on. Turns out my calcium uptake was competing with my magnesium uptake. The additonal Cal-Mag I was supplying was outside of the normal formula they list…obviously…but 3ml was too much. I cut my 3ml feeding down to 1ml and everything just calmed down. That excess calcium could cause some pH run off issues later so I’ll keep an eye on that run off. Lesson learned, won’t happen again.

Week 2 and 3 formulas are the same so right now I’m feeding
105% week 2/3 feeding + Cal-Mag 1ml = 6.35pH @700ppm (pH down required)

OK, so here’s the light rail. This was not an inexpensive add-on for the tent so I truly hope it pays off.

Been a while but Lucy D is getting bigger every day.

So much in fact, the net was put in place, WOO HOOOO.

Now in alternate dimension I would have two plants in this tent so I would have flipped to flower probably today, but this is a one plant experiment with about 7-14 days left in veg. I love how the number keeps shrinking and dialing in.

I’ll snap out a few more before the weekend ends!

Day 61 Bloom Day 4

Yes, I said bloom day 4. It has been a while.
I switched to bloom on day 58. I’ve been treating a portion of the plant with silver for the last 4 days as well. I do that twice a day except for today, I applied just once. Roughly three weeks of this application and I’ll have some pollen sacs (not quite ready) from this LSD. As much as I say I am not a fan of auto flower plants, I will likely try to grow some for pollen and just learn more about then before I cast them out. I was not a fan of the Girl Scout cookie auto as it grew, but I do like the bud it produced.

I have pollen from my Mama Mia plant last grow and I will attempt to create seeds with this LSD plant. I will also use that pollen on the next auto flower I grow but I have no idea if mixing the two will produce an auto flower plant or a photo period plant. Time will tell.

Lucy still lives, but probably won’t produce anything. I just let her sit in the run off

Also, you can see this other little girl. This is just an experiment and will be allowed to live as long as it can. It’s 6 days old and was bent when I cut it. The stem is still very firm. I dropped some rooting hormone down the top so we’ll see. That ashy look is from nutrient splash but other than that, it looks like a healthy clone. I think I’m going to develop a second tent in the near future…

Sorry I haven’t been on in a while…

My tent is starting week 4 of flower and it’s a jungle. Only problem is they have stretched the buds are not forming and I think it’s due to my light.

I bought a viparspectra 700w dimmable back in 2017, here’s a screen shot I took back them during my search. Take a mental note…

Now look at the ad…

THEY SLASHED THE COVERAGE SPECS!

As a rookie, I just didn’t know and I thought I got an awesome light…and don’t get me wrong: It has grown me decent bud and it veges very great but slow. I even put out for a light mover, but it’s not making a big enough difference, they light is just not powerful enough. I can’t spend 4 or 3 months on sub par lighting. Pun intended.

I am definitely in the market for a new light.

Flower count reset: Flower Day 5

Yes, I had a timer mishap in my tent and to make a long story short the plants had actually been vegging for all this time. Ultimately I set to programs on a two outlet timer, but my mistake is that I set them both on the same outlet. I never actually implemented the idea on the second outlet, so I never saw the mistake manifest. My plants just kept growing and I assumed it was stretch. I would watch the lights go out and they went back on after a short time. So here she is now, a single plant jungle…

I have removed every little teen worthless bud site from the mid section. I left those leaves for the plant to feast on later.

I’ve already begun the Colloidal Silver treatment on the selected branch AND I’ll likely pollinate a different selected branch later this week. So I will have Mama Mia as a pollen giver and LSD will be the mother. If it works, I’ll take this pollen and Mama Mia pollen and seed a third girl down the road. I have no idea the quality of the seeds that will be produced, but we shall see. If those seeds are viable, I’m going to focus on creating auto flower seeds. I know I said I hate autos, but long story not yet fleshed out. My goal has always been to be self-sufficient. I haven’t had to buy street weed in almost 1.5 years and as much as I love the thrill of ordering seeds, there is still a risk.

Ok, so let me not gloss over the lighting mishap because I need to own that. Before I had diagnosed the issue as the timer, I was starting to blame my light. I figured it wasn’t cutting it and the plants were just not flipping. So I reached out to the resident lighting specialist on this site (shout out to @dbrn32 ) and after some brain picking, I will be swapping a DIY four panel quantum board to my tent maybe as soon as Friday! Parts are trickling in. That should put this jungle over the top. Plus, I can now take my old light and start a veg tent.

And for fans of Lucy, she is not yet dead. She’s hiding in the left hand side of the photo. She’s about 1/20th the size of her younger sister. I just want to see if I get a bud out of her.

I’ll start posting more pictures more often since I’m not scratching my head of stretch!
Questions? Comments? Thoughts on where it goes from here after the debacle?

Major upgrades. New light installed!

Girls are already showing vigor

This branch off to the left has had its first touch of pollen,

This branch on the right has been getting sprayed with collodial silver,

New Flower Day 14

It’s all about the base. Two dimensional pics never do justice, this baby is hearty. Every day I go in and pluck the little sprouts.

Looks Like they’re loving the lights for sure! Nice!

And yes, Lucy still lives…

She’ll probably put out one single bud on top.
Technically they are 12 hours apart depending on your measure. Any plant will grow. How a plant grows is 99% how it’s treated.

New Flower Day 19

Hello again. Progress is looking good. Much happier. Thanks to this light, my hope is this grow produces more than previous. I lost a lot of time so it better!
All in all, I didn’t want the plant to get this tall so I’m still chasing the perfect grow. If I had flowered correctly, I would be much shorter…and almost done. But if I had flowered correctly I would not have replaced my light, so…

I added the third level net to kind of push things over as I have maxed out my light height. My attempt at correctly scrogging didn’t work so well, but I certainly learned how to twist and bend to get nice knuckles. All of these items are going to come together on the next couple grows.

  • I pollinated my branch again, not seeing anything visual yet. We’ll see.
  • I’ve been applying silver…not seeing the same results as last time. Last time sacs appeared around day 25.
  • I’m thinking of not flushing, but instead dropping the nutes to near zero after week 5-ish so all the excess nutrients will be eaten up over longer time instead of flushed. I “believe” in flushing, but I don’t think a week or 1.5 weeks is enough to do it. Still deciding (or maybe my light was the problem)

New Bloom Day 29

It’s been 10 days since my last post and as you’ll see, I try to keep the same camera angle.

This bud and a few others have been pollinated. In real life you can see very clearly where the seeds are growing in their little pods, but in the photos you might not be able to tell so much…

If I get ANY seeds out of this I’ll be happy. I understand breeding enough to know these would not be anything stable or predictable. I just want to see if I can handle the basics.

Another shot of Lucy
