Low temperaturs effect on flowering

I have 6 plants 8 weeks into flower and looking great, but could probably use another week.
We are about to get a severe antarctic cold snap with night time temps down to 3-4 degrees celcius and fog and rain for about 5 days.
I should have mentioned, they are outside under plastic cover.
Should I take the risk of bud rot setting in or suck it up and take the girls down.
Trichomes are nearly all milky but not seeing very many amber.

man that is a long time at out of range for a good growā€¦I would harvest now instead of loosing it all but I have no experience with this type of situationā€¦I would think that kind of cold would stop her from developing her buds but again no real experience or knowledge for sure just some common sense thoughts on this

If u have them tarped good to stay dry. Try and get a heater under the tarp to keep temps a bit warmer. If the tarps work to keep rain and wind off them it will hold in some heat to help them out some. Just daily have to check them make sure it donā€™t jump too hot or stay too cold make sure the tarps r tied down super well. It has been done tho.

Unfortunately I canā€™t do that.
They are in a bush house that is shadecloth all over and with hauticultural plastic on the roof.
Besides itā€™s 30 x 30 x 12 feet.
With each plant looking like it will produce around a pound and a half I sure donā€™t want to loose them this close to the line.
Itā€™s a pity that winter decided to come early downunder.

Personally, I check weather forecasts multiple times a day. That said, I would wait until the nasty weather is arriving, then pull your girls. I look at it like this: what you stand to gain is less than what you stand to lose to degradation in a situation like that. Back in ā€˜01 my Mentor had two hundred SSH that were 2 weeks out and we had 60mph gusts and 3.5ā€ of rain. Mother Nature always wins, wait until you know itā€™s about to hit, then take them down.

Well that sux. Light a bon fire on the grow area lol. Possibly run a torpedo heater for half hour or so here and there enough to keep the temps a bit happier then it is throwing lots of carbon monoxide in the area for the plants to absorb up too. Iā€™m sure there is a way u can get some heat to them to keep them happy just have to figure out the best safest way for it to happen.

Thanks mate, I donā€™t think I have much choice and your right. I stand to lose more than I can gain.
Cheers

Squeeze everyday out you can. Itā€™s not the cold that will kill you. But that fog and rain will definitely lead to issues. The cold would probably bring out some beautiful colors while sheā€™s trying to finish. But you do what you think is best. Def would need to chop before that rain come through.

Agreed on this one. Sheā€™ll be fine if it just gets cold, sheā€™ll be real banged up if itā€™s way humid for too long.

Iā€™d just pull now, personally. Trichomes continue to mature for a while after harvest while the plant dries out, so if itā€™s mostly cloudy now, I imagine itā€™ll be fully cloudy by the end of the dry, if not with a bit of amber peeking through.

I say drop them if you havenā€™t already. Cloudy trichs are good to go. I usually wait for some amber too, but that is just because usually not that big of deal indoors.

Well I dropped 3 of the babies. The other 3 are just way not ready. So I will risk them.
Found a very small amount of bud rot but only lost about 1/2 oz.
Gave them a good bud wash so we will see how they eventually finish up.
It was a good thing to harvest otherwise I would have probably lost the approx 5lbs I got.
They still should smoke ok.
