Transplant into a larger container with a couple inches of soil on the bottom and fill around. Soil around your plant before removing should be good and moist not too saturated. If roots are circling at the bottom and choking themselves I like to trim an inch off the bottom and 1/2” all the way around the sides beforehand. I ALWAYS add perlite to any soil I use to make sure it is at least 30% perlite up to 50%(excessive). Almost forgot, perlite with 0 additive nutrients. Pruning is a deep and subjective thing. Best advice is to use the
at the top right corner first and look at the different styles and methods and reasoning behind them to decide what you are going for. It’s a frequently discussed topic so there are plenty of threads including tutorials on the forums. This helps expand your circle of trusted advisors and mentors too which really helps in the long run to find the best grow style that fits you.
Forgot one thing. The first two pictures I would start bottom to top thinning large inner fan leaves to open up the center a bit for airflow to stay ahead. It’s not necessary yet if you follow but enough there to justify a light trim.
We’re doing well! Missing you!

The root trim tip was something I read somewhere here when I was looking into keeping a mother plant. Root trims and repotting were recommended every 6 months. Guess in addition to encouraging new root growth it makes it easier to keep it healthy in a small pot perpetually. Happy Father’s Day
I didn’t even think about mentioning garden stakes but looks like you have things well covered and should help make lower buds more productive. Definitely on the right track, nice healthy plant too. I have a strong preference for my plastic woven mesh bags but yours is rocking in the plastic pots. Fabric and mesh type just drain and breathe better/easier but people have been using buckets and plastic pots successfully for years so it’s not mission critical as long as it’s got enough drainage. Your plants have no signs of overwatering or root rot, predicting a nice happy harvest ![]()
Funny you say that. So I did notice after cutting the pot open. Some greenish roots. Only one. Rest nice and white. But I think I’m in transplant shock. Only time will tell I think
Sounds okay. I’ll usually see green roots at the surface where the light gets to them and force them to grow “bark” and never seems to bother the plants.
Thank you for all the tips. Best the transplant stress!!! Used ffo soil, mixed 1 pound bone meal, and a half cup of garden food 5-10-5. Then put a dusting of the bone meal and a couple throws of the garden food in the hole. One full watering after transplant and just a smooth watering in the center a day later. What do you think?

Thank you! Was worried about the nutes and fox farm soil. Can’t wait to
Let the soil cool of and hit it with the 12-0-0 blood meal. First grow here in VA, much respect to the growers and the site. Gonna check
Your posts out. Nice to meet ya!
I believe you can post external links as long as they don’t conflict with the stuff ilgm sells, am I correct @Myfriendis410? Although ilgm does sell nutrients too… lets see what myfriend says.
Amazon links are okay as we are an affiliate. Reference links are fine as long as they don’t sell products that conflict with ILGM. So, no seed shops, nutrient lines etc.
So mycorrhizae links are good? Sweet! Let me link away!
