My next question is I’m fixing to repot the seedling I have into a 5 gallon bucket should I use this whole bag of perlite and with the soil if not how much do you guys recommend
@RandomlyRan, @LoCoRock, @Amazon66, enough drain holes or more?
Big holes are 3/4 small holes are 1/4.
I mix mine 70soil/30perlite. As long as the water comes out in a decent amount of time. When in doubt drill a few more out lol
But to you does that look enough, and from the picture I drilled two more 3/4 holes.
I’m also horrible at math so in a 5 gallon bucket what would you use or how much sorry perlite with this soil?
I have a whole small bag of perlite not open so let me know something my mind is not stable today I guess you would say
That should be enough holes. If your filling a five gallon bucket I’d do something like 4 gallons of soil 1 gal of perlite. If you have a gallon bucket or a milk jug you can cut off the top so you can fill it. It makes it easier. I actually mixed my coco and vermiculite in an empty composter. I put in my brick of coco and a med bag of vermiculite, water it and spin it round and let it mix so I don’t use an exact ratio.
That Miracle-Gro perlite has time-released fertilizers in it. “Enriched With Miracle-Gro Plant Food”
@elheffe702 I know it does, only one they had at the time and the amount of nutrients it has is really low I read it, was disappointed that’s all they had but I had to get something.
I saw that but it didn’t say good for X amount of months so I assumed (I know, I know) it would be ok. I use Miracle gro shake and feed all the time. I just grind em into dust, so they are no longer time release.
I bought the same stuff initially, then had problems with nutrient burn, had to flush, etc. I think others have had success just rinsing it thoroughly before using it, to ‘release’ as much as possible.
maybe try cutting it with straight dirt from outside. cheep and low nute and would make math easy scoop miracle, scoop perl, scoop dirt till your pot full. just pull any big rocks out (pea gravel whatever quarter sized should not take up your space)
Let me ask I think I heard that @Missiles or @GreenJewels have a successful way to use miracle grow. Can you help out please. ![]()

I’m sorry I’ve never used MG. Maybe it was @GreenJewels ![]()
Hi Jewels ![]()
Well you’ve lived it so you’d know more than I. @elheffe702
Not just miracle grow tho, miracle grow perlite.
@Dickrick527 is there any info on the back of relevance? I.e. NPK values or anything really? Take a clear pic so we can zoom.
Or better yet if you have YouTube on your phone you can create an acct and post a video for us of the whole setup and what your using. If we can post YouTube I don’t remember ![]()
It’s negligible, like 0.5 - 0.5 - 0.5 I think. But it’s enough to kill off your microherd if you’re shooting for organic.
Well it’s been a while back so my memory maybe slipping hahaha. ![]()

No miracle grow nutes for me. Currently I’m running Greanleaf nutrients, Megacrop.
Sorry long time ago someone was using but had to tweak it some how so I just went with happy frog cause I was told you could never flush it out of dirt. ![]()
You need to poke holes in the bottom of MG perlite bag and stick a hose in the top. Rince it out for about 3/5 minutes… I use that perlite as it’s all Depot sells and I’m okay with it. Rinsing it out is a must it also has a lot of dust and other particulates. Rinse it out good
Heard! Thanks guys
