So our first setup didn’t workout and we’ve had to improvise! This is our China cabinet lol what DIY sort of things can we do to convert this into our indoor grow place? I know we need a proper grow light I just don’t know what light to get that won’t break the bank right now and what will work in this cabinet. We only have autoflowers so whatever light works for those. And what can we do to make it more private? Any ideas please and thank you
Thanks for tag…many intresting ways to convert that; however, @ConcreteBudz did a great indoor stealth grow out of an old Armoire.
Any carprentry skills available in the house. Like replacing the glass with wood. Cutting vent intakes and exhuasts?
Simple way would be to paint the inside of the glass white. And cut vent intake at bottom and exhuast at top. Drill a hole for your extension cord.
Looks like a fun project!
Autoflower or photoperiod going to have basically same lighting requirements. You can sometimes cheat an auto by running lights longer, but opens door to potentially more heat issues and/or issue with an auto that doesn’t want to flower on its own. So i typically recommend to size your light to hit reasonable dli on 12 hour light schedule.
What are the inside measurements of the cabinet? Also wondering if you plan to remove glass and cover or leave as is?
Check this thread. He is using a cabinet and you see what was done to it
Feel free to tag me ask any questions. @beardless kindly provided you with link to one of my journals go check it out. Hes a couple pics. But go through my threads

I would shoot for a 2x2 light at most for as small as a China cabinet is.get some mirrored glass (42% reflection) to allow for a more even distribution of light in such a small place. Also, allow for constant airflow in your place( more people in area produces more Co2) more growth for plant as long as it metered correctly
My opinion this is a terrible set up. The glass is going to create humidity and light escaping as well as increased temperatures. I recommend looking at peoples grow set ups here. If you want to have a good grow you have to have the right set up. This cabinet I don’t think you can grow anything worthwhile in it.
I’m sure glad that’s not mahogany
Is that a painting I see in the reflection?
@RebelRose
Every thing I have read regarding grow space coverings is mirrors can cause hot spots by reflecting IR. Mirrors are too reflective to use with grow lights. Mylar with a pattern is most recommended and even flat white paint is used in large spaces.
Nice setup bro!
I think OP’s cabinet will work with some effort. Obviously block out the windows first off.
Thank you brother. He could make it work but i think hes better off with an armoire or mobile closet or entertainment center type deal
Definitely could use more height. If it were me i would just mainline it and try to keep it short. But i guess in the long run if you have to put in so much work, you might as well just do it right to begin with lol.
Perfectly stated. or start off with a good baseline to begin like me i chose the armoire because it had 7ft height and 2x4 dimensions, i gutted the inside made my vents ans exhaust holes, lined it with panda film, caulked some cracks, put think strips of weather stripping around doors to help keep them sealed tight boom. All in all i spent about $500 on the armoire that includes buying it off facebook marketplace $250, paying for gas to go get it an hour and half away haha then couple tools to do what i need, the panda film everything even vent.
Yeah and tbh, I’m a fan of overkill. If you overkill, then you have room for expansion later. Overkill lights, enclosure, other things I can’t think about…
A T-5 would work perfect or a Maxisun PB2000 perfecto and exchange the air quality in and out the cabinet , but in dark schedule you might want to black out the glass are wrap it for dark period . If you can hollow out the bottom so your plants are lower , they will grow more aggressive in a cool wood box than a tent cause wood holds humidity perfect if you keep it moving .
One of the craziest incognito ideas I’ve seen on here was this thing. Only a stoners genius could pull this off
Nice but i just dont see any of my plants growing in there, my plants woukd be growing out that spot . Nice for a CFl or T-5 grow.
The clear glass really is not ideal. If you paint it anything other than black, and maybe even then, it’s still going to “glow” through.
Spring cleaning season ought to be arriving soon. Look for when your large item garbage day is if you have something like that and shop around. I bet you can find something more like @ConcreteBudz armoire.
If you don’t have time for that, maybe FB marketplace or ikea. You need something that can stay dark on the inside, to start with.
Just my $.02
