Let's talk DIY lights

Whatcha think of this deal?

The price is fair but I don’t know if i would give up warranty or customer support over buying direct from hlg. They are the type of company that will overnight you driver if it fails. Not sure you would get same treatment buying used, but maybe.

Very good point man. Sometimes $$ signs over rule my brain. Thanks brother.

This is all of us to some extent. There is good chance the used light would run for years without issue too. I was just sharing the thoughts that would cross my mind considering used.

HLG is a solid company with OUTSTANDING customer service. I have no doubt they will do you right.

I bought that same light in September 2023 for $529 as a refurb (plus additional discount) from HLG direct. IMHO, it’s better to buy directly from HLG to support them and to cover your derrière should there be an issue.

Keep an eye out for their holiday discounts, which come with each passing opp.

Also, fwiw, that light ROCKS!!!

I will echo the sage advice from @dbrn32, the HLG refurb page is the best page on the internet. The prices are astounding, the value sublime, and their customer service is unmatched…

I’m adding a QB288 Rspec to an existing HLG 260W XL QB V2 LED Kit.
HLG recommends HLG-320H-C2800A but I want to use a 100 ohm pot and the HLG-320H-C2800AB is out of stock everywhere. Can I use a HLG-320H-C2800B?

You’re talking about putting 3 288 boards on this driver right? If so, I would check hlg’s info again. This driver doesn’t have the voltage to clear 3 boards in series and 288 board voltage is too low to run them in parallel.

To run 3-288boards in series I’m pretty sure the correct driver is hlg-320h-c1750. If you want to use 100k ohm pot to dim then you want model number ending in B. Hlg-320h-c1750B.

Thank you.I reached out to HLG and they confirmed your recommendation for the
HLG-320h-C1750.They also provided 2 more options, which I don’t plan on using.
HLG-185H-C1050 and HLG-240H-C1400
I appreciate your help.

The smaller drivers will just put less current to each board, so I agree with passing on them. The 1750ma driver is best suited application.

This was a very common conversion 4-5 years ago.
