I think I will do away with the Rockwool cubes. They do seem to hold a mass amount of water and I have never had mold in my cloner before. There was some slimey brownish crap in the res of the cloner also not sure what it was but I killed it all lol. Clogged my sprayer and everything. Pulled the pump and setup completely apart and cleaned the holy beeJesus outta it. Any idea what that was? Sorry didn’t get a pic.
Hey peeps. How it going? The grow is coming along. I’m having issues cloning for some reason. I keep getting brownish slug buildup in my cloner. Next had this problem before. I have checking my old logs and comparing to new ones to see what has changed.
I have lost 3 of the 4 clones. The last one looks great tho lol. Took 12 days to get this small amount of roots tho. They usually root for me in 5-7 days (very small nubs at day 3). Not sure what I’m doing different but I’ll find out.
Did some LST on the mother to open her up a bit for cloning.
As for the brown slug
Could it all be due to the Rockwool? I pulled the clones outta that stuff and they seemed to be much happier. Cubes were holding ALOT of water.
I’ve checked my logs. The ppm in cloner is about 190 (tap water dechlorinated) Up from 120 ish in previous logs.
Cloner res Temp has been about 78-80 F
That’s up from my normal of 70-75
Could that be the prob?
I’m also using hydro guard. I have never used it in previous cloning situations. Could it because the issues of the brown slug like material in cloner?
Also having issues keeping the cloner at correct PH. I check it daily. I correct it to 5.8 from about 7.5-8.2 every day. Just wont stay stable for more that a few hours (and by stable I mean not going from 5.6 - 7.5 in under 14 hours. Anyone have any of these prob? Love to see or hear how you corrected any of these issues.
All tips/help/suggestions very welcome.
I also used h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) in the cloner. I read on other forums of people having brown sludge issue using h2o2. Gonna tag some people from the forums that have helped me before. Maybe they can do it again lol. On a side note should I even be this worried over the sludge? Will it impact my system enough to even care? TYVM for any feedback.

I’m thinking so. Ideal is about 68f right? I’m not really sure what the limitations of hydroguard are, but seems like 80 would be too high regardless.

hey buddy, i may be a bit new to the hydro, but yes I would say I try and keep mine under 68’f… well I do, but I have sludge sometimes, but its the smell, and the pH, that indicates nasty biological growth, pH that goes up is not a good… sign for me… 
so I just use veg nutes for cloning, with hydroguard, u see everyone’s different… but pH 6-6.5, and temp under 68… I also don’t use rockwool… 
what temp are u keeping your air?

I know they are expensive, and not for your cloner but have u considered a chiller?
can u insulate you cloner? put it in a colder area?

veg… starts at 6.5…swings down to 5.5… all the way down to 4.5… if they are unlucky…

nope, just because I was finding it difficult keeping all the systems around 5.8 all the time… and @Kamdo … @peachfuzz told me that’s the way he does it… and he has helped me beyond belief… if u are in need of the best help…

Ah. I never had trouble keeping ph stable in hydro until I got RO and then I just bought a blulab ph doser. So I’m on e z mode for ph now.

The air temp around the plants stay consistently 80F
The 78-80 is my current res temp in cloner only.
Veg and flower will be 65-68.
I thought u wanted temp higher for cloning?
That’s why I was aiming for 70-75 cloner res temp.
I can drop it to 68 if that’s the case.
HPS is NOT on the cloner it’s for flower tent. I have 2 small LED grow lights for cloning.
All my equipment and what equipment is used for cloner/veg/flower are all listed above.

@peachfuzz question was what’s this brown sludge in my cloner? How bad is it to have this stuff in there? Am I tripping for nothing? Lol and what is a good water temp for cloner? I thought u wanted temp higher for clones but seems I am wrong.

I’m not sure why it’s raising so high.
Tap water I am using is about 93 ppm straight outta the hose. I let it sit in a totewith air pump and stone for 24 hours to dechlorinate. Once I PH, Hydroguard, add rooting hormone it goes up to about 180 ppm.
you need to sort out the temperature, this should have a effect on the ph…
