Leave discoloration in new plants

Hey everyone. I’ve started a new grow and I’ve already got some discoloration in the first true set of leaves. I’m hoping someone can help identify the issue before it moves to the newer leaves.
Some info:
Jack Heror auto (seeds purchased from ILGM)
2 weeks old
Soil -fox farms Jungle
Currently under White LED lights (household variety)
Lux is 16,000
I have not fed them yet, just PH’d water (6.5 ph)
I water them every other day when soil dries out.
I have not tested the runoff yet because they don’t get enough water to have run off.
Lights run 24/7
Small fans to move air around
Fresh air intake into my grow tent
Tent is 4x4x7

Here are some photos. Both plants seem to have the same issue. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hot soil maybe.

From what I can see, the rest of your plant looks pretty good. It’s been my experience that those first single finger leaves end up looking a little beat up and eventually come off. I’d keep an eye on it but I think you’re still ok.

Yes, those lower leaves die off naturally pretty early on.

Thanks everyone for the quick reply. Should I leave them on the plants and monitor them, or would it be best for the plants to remove them?

They should fall off on there own when they shrivel up which tells u the plants done using them. Then if u want to go ahead. I leave mine on and never touch em. If you do want to take them i would wait till they are dead or ur feeding by then.

Ok, so now I’m starting to see a similar effect on the next set of leaves up from the bottom. There also seems to be some curling. I’m not feeding them yet, just pH’d water and whatever is already in the soil. Could this be too much water? I water every three days, about 32 oz right now. Not enough to have run off, but enough to encourage the roots to grow down and out.

High temps can cause the leaves to do that or to close to the light?

I’m still just using household LED lights with a LUX reading of 16,000 at the top of the plant. From what I’ve read, they should be getting between 18,000 and 45,000 lux. Maybe they need more light now? I haven’t transitioned them over to the HPS yet. It’s a 1000 watt but I turn it down to 500 for the first week or two. Could it be that there’s something missing in the soil, or maybe I should be adding CalMag or something to my watering?

Forgot to mention, the temp at the top of the plants is 75 degrees.

Overwatering… stop it… or suffer the rath…

I know it’s not an exact science, but when they’re only a few weeks old, what is the average amount and timing of watering? Is it better to give less water but more frequently versus more but less frequently? Or maybe it’s less water less frequently lol

The best thing to do is water thoroughly and then allow the soil to dry out almost completely before you water again. For three week old plants it depends a lot on what size pots they are in.

@raustin. They are in 5 gallon pots. I try not to do transplants with autos. I do start them in those little roto rooter thingies, but then into the it’s the go. I don’t normally water the whole pot this early on, I try to keep it more I’m the center to get the roots to grow down. It’s only been in the last water that I started watering out closer to the edge. Still not enough for run off, but getting close. I’m going to see if watering every 4 days for now helps keep things dryer.

Ok, definitely do NOT water too runoff yet, the plants are too small for that. You want to water in a circle close to the edge of the pot so that the roots spread out in search of the water. I would water a few ounces two or three times a week.

@raustin. Great. I’ll start that with the next watering. Thanks again for the info!

@raustin has you covered… I would have gave same advice…

@peachfuzz. Your advice turned me onto it being a watering problem. Thank you for that!
