I would give them a little more time in the cups. They won’t have very much root development yet.
It’s absolutely soilless. The main characteristic is there’s nothing to adsorb your inputs. If you water it thoroughly, you get the benefit of a nutrient reset.
I don’t know why ProMix doesn’t make the info easier to find; they put the contents right on the bales.
I always step up in small increments. I go to a half gallon next.
Two reasons: I want to form thoroughly rooted layers, and I don’t want a container so large that it holds more water than the plant can use in a day or two. The second rule is rather subjective.
I’d wait another week or so before transplanting, want that cup full of roots to hold everything together. When you have to water fully every day is when you should consider transplanting, because you know the cup is full of roots at that point, transplanting always works out better with more roots than less as the root/dirt ball won’t fall apart on you.
And when the dirt ball falls apart it can take big chunks of roots with it
Agreed! I had half a root ball fall of in my hand. She recovered but is growing slow - probably trying to regrow half her roots.
Yea I bet we all have some cool setups for germinating. Here’s some pix of my set up. I’m running 600W leds, a fan, a heater, and a control unit for temp and hydro. Tell me what you think.
sure! The dome is a Early grow tray with inserts. I only have a 2 x 4 tent, so i go with 6 plants. In the pic u can see that I am using Lazy Susan to stage the seedlings. I can work with all 6 plants without having to lift them out of the dome. My soil is Fox Farm Happy frog, mixed with Coco Coir, and a dash of Microhyzine. I keep the RH around 60, and the temp @ 77F. The dome has a micro heater, 2 mini fans and a control unit which warms the germination pad too. Now all i need is some luck…i’ve had crops ruined for reasons unknown. Ask me anything else u want to know.
