Growing Cannabis can be made much easier by learning how to make your own plant foods, healthy ipm medicines and microbial inoculants. I dont have the capacity to teach you everything you should know about knf but i want to show yall what i have come up with using ingredients that are available to me and its so easy anyone can and should be doing it. I will also provide some links so yall can start soaking this in. There are a few different products that are made in knf and they are but probably not limited to-
Fermented Plant Juice- great for flowering
Fermented Fruit Juice- great for veg
Lactobacillus Serum- good to increase bioavailability of nutrients already in soil as well as build immunities in the plant
Indigenous Microorganism- Capturing indigenous fungal and bacterial microbes to increase bioavailability of nutrients already in soil as well as build immunities in the plant. Provides healthy soil food web.
Oriental Herbal Nutrient- Pest management and builds the plants immune system
Water soluble calcium phosphate- Best to use as a foliar spray when transitioning to flower
Fermented Plant Juice
Different ingredients will yield different properties that can be passed to your plant when you are making a fermented plant juice or really the same goes for any of the knf supplements. I like to use a tomato fpj that i have been using since last winter. It really makes the plant bush out and put off lots of new branches. When you make a fermented plant juice you want to clip off new growing tops from any plant (even weeds will work) early on the morning before the sun really gets out as the plants start to divert their auxins and other naturally occuring growth hormones back towards the roots once the sun “wakes them up”. As a guiding rule of thumb you only use one type of plant per fermentation. Pick the most vigorously growing plant(s) and clip off the tops to your hearts desire. You dont have to have a huge amount. I usually aim to do my fermentations around the size of pint size jars. About 1 lb plant material to 1/2 lb sugar. The only other ingredient you need to do most of these fermentations is brown sugar or molasses. You will need to add brown sugar to your clipped off plant material 1:2 by weight. You can either lay the ingredients into your container lasagna style or you can crush up the plant material and really get it mixed well by hand. Accuracy isnt extremely imperative. You have a pretty big margin of error to play with here but still try to keep it as close as possible. After 7 days your fpj will be ready to use. Stabilize by mixing 1 to 1 by volume with unsulphered molasses. Use at a dilution rate, anywhere from 1:500 to 1:1000 as a foliar spray or root drench. Play with different plant inputs for different effects.

Fermented fruit juice
These are my favorite. They smell awesome, they taste awesome and animals love it too. Right now apricot season is coming to a close and i have already whipped up a nice jar of fermented fruit juice from them and cant wait to start using it as well as a black mulberry fermentation i did to form a nice anthocyanin rich formula that should really help plants express that purple. Fermented fruit juice is great to start setting fruit and flowers on plants and really give their reproductive cycles a kickstart. I like to start foliar feeding an it a week before i initiate flower to get a headstart and continue til im about 3 to 4 weeks in.
To make ffj you are going to follow the exact same process as fpj but substitute any handpicked fruit, not from a store, and only 1 type of fruit per ffj. Avoid using citrus as it is antimicrobial. ferment 2:1 fruit to brown sugar by weight for 7 days. Strain and squeeze out all juices you can and use at a ratio of 1:1000 fed to soil or foliarly.
Lactobacillus serum
Will need rice, milk, unsulphered molasses, airlock
This is a generally useful product. Add it to your worm bin to speed up the rate of decomposition. Spray it on your leaf surfaces to colonize them with a healthy microbial population that will never allow pm or any other type of mold to to form. I havent had pm in over a year, or since i started using this. Im not exactly sure on the measurements but take about a cup of rice to 2 cups of water in a jar. Shake it for a couple of minutes. The water should be white. Strain out the liquid and save the rice for capturing indigenous microorganisms later. Now take the rice wash and put a paper or cloth cover over it for 4 to 6 days in a dark space. After that time it will have formed 3 distinct layers. Strain out the liquid. You will need a container with a lid such a bucket. Add the strained out liquid to the milk in the bucket. A simple airlock can be made with a rubber band and a rubber glove with a pinhole in a finger. Let that ferment for 4 to 7 days. At that time there will have been a solid curd layer that has formed on top. Feed it to animals, they love it, or add it to your compost pile, bokashi bin etc. Wherever it goes a healthy microbial population will follow. As for the yellowish liquid that is left over, add molasses at a rate of 1:1 by volume and it for the next 4 to 7 days it will continue to ferment so make sure if you go ahead and put it in its final jar, you put the lid on loosely in order to allow it to breath. After that time you are ready to use it at a rate of 1:20

Indigenous MicroOrganisms-
IMO will increase plant availability of nutrients that are present and will allow the plant to communicate with the soil microbes in order to get what it needs, when it needs it. Now for that rice that you saved from earlier, add about 1 cup of water and cook it until it is dry to the touch. You will want to strain out the cooked rice and place it in a breathable container such as a small basket or box. Clay jars if you have them available. If you have growing bamboo, outdoor growing cannabis (in native soil not potted), or (remind me to edit here with plant that has same species of mycorizhae that colonizes cannabis) this is a nice bonus. You will want to put this in the shade protected from animals, amongst the bamboo or cannabis plant, on the ground. After 4 to 7 days the rice should have a nice white cottony colony of mycellium growing over the top. Other colors such as green and orange are welcome. What you dont want is black which indicates formation of anaerobic microorganisms. This is why you need a breathable container. After your rice is colonized with aerobic microbes you can add brown sugar at a rate of 1:1 and store this mixture as it is for a year or more. Use at a rate of 1:1000 to inoculate any soil with a healthy population of microorganisms that will flourish in your garden because they are the ones that have adapted to survive whatever conditions you live in. You will be able to see white mycellium growing ever the top of your soil, unless exposed to sun or other UV, within 2 days. Cover with mulch to keep them happy .

Oriental Herbal Nutrient
These are generally used to help boost the immune system of the plant and kill and repel pests. OHN is a mixture of fermentations from different raw herbs and spices. Traditionally i believe garlic, ginger, licorice, turmeric, cinnamon, angelica and probably a few other things are used. I just started my first OHN of ginger and one of garlic. Before we go into the process it would be extremely important that you are using equal sized jars for all of the different herbs. You will need 2 containers for each herb, the second being 2x the size of the first. You will see why shortly. For the raw, fresh ingredients the fermentation process begins with brown sugar at half of the weight of your herbs. Fill jar til its about 2/3 full and everything is mixed and packed tightly so as to allow minimal air pockets for maximum accuracy in the final product. jar it and press it down as usual and let it ferment for 7 days with a breathable cover and then fill the rest of the container with vodka. This will be your first extraction. It will now extract for (ideally) 14 days days at which time you will strain the liquid into what will be your larger, final container. Remember to use different containers for all of your herbs and final storage containers will need to be exactly 2x as big as fermenting/ extracting containers. Pour liquid back until fermenting jar is again 2/3 full. Fill with vodka again and repeat this process another 3 times with (ideally) 14 days between each extraction. Strain out the remaining liquid into the final container and the larger container which should be pretty close to full at this point, is your finished extraction. For the dry ingredients such as cinnamon sticks, fill roughly 1/10th of the fermenting jar with the herbs. Fill jar until its 2/3 full with beer or wine to rehydrate for 1 day then add about 1/4 cup of sugar and ferment for another 6 days after which time you will fill the container with vodka for your first extraction like you did the fresh ingredients and allow to extract for (ideally) another 14 days at which point you will repeat the same “extraction” steps the exact same number of times as with the fresh ingredients. After all herbs have been extracted, you may mix a much smaller, equal amount of each of the extracts into a separate container such as an 8 to 16 oz bottle for the final product. This is the full strength solution of all of the extracted herbs that will be used at a rate of 1:1000 as a foliar spray to kill pests and to keep them away and keep plants disease free. Keep extracted herbs separate until you are going to start mixing with the other herbs for full strength solution in a separate container.

Water Soluble Calcium Phosphate-
This recipe is very easy to make and very easy to use. Water soluble calcium phosphate is great to use a week before “flipping” to flower and through the 3rd or 4th week when trichomes really start developing. All you need is bones and/ or eggshells and naturally made vinegar such as apple or brown rice vinegar. if you use apple make sure it is not the apple cider FLAVORED vinegar. Eggshells are easiest in my opinion and thats what i have used multiple times so thats what i will talk about. For a 1 pint jar you can use a quarter cup of crushed eggshells to 3/4 cup of vinegar. We are going to burn the eggshells 'til they are as black as possible without turning to ash, so you will need to wrap your eggshells in HEAVY DUTY aluminum foil and you can do this on a grill or without the foil in the oven to bake. The blacker you get the shells the more phosphorus content this process will yield. The lighter the shells the more calcium it will yield. Put both the ingredients in your jar. Immediately you should start to see bubbling occur. Let the jar sit with a paper towel or other type of breathable lid over it until you stop seeing the eggshells rise and fall. Agitate slightly by swishing contents around once a day until finished.
