Just starting to plan

:scream: I did not even see that. So glad i found this site. Everyone is so helpful! Thank you. I am currently doing some reading on Budget led. Is what they offer comparable to the 260xl rspec?

@dbrn32 this is one of the ones im looking at. Not sure if im allowed to put this link. If not let me know. Not sure if this design is better then the rectangle version. Coming with a 3 year warranty and pre assembled is appealing to me.

I had to remove link because they’re not an approved vendor, sorry.

That’s probably a better light than the vipar, but they lie too. If you look around their website you’ll see a lot of talk about 3.03 or whatever umol/joule. Their lights aren’t running that good, they’re just regurgitating info from Samsungs data sheets. The top flux bin low voltage bin chips are capable of that efficacy when they are run at really low current. But that’s not what budget led is doing and they’re probably not getting the best bins on their leds. The lm 301b/h are definitely good enough that you don’t neccesarily need the top bins to grow decent, but that’s where the savings come in too. So you get a little less light and pay a little less money.

The fixture you linked looks like it was more designed for 3x3 with board spacing. The others suggested the 260 xl kits because the board spacing would provide more even light distribution in a 4x4. And I would definitely stay away from any of the budget led lights that come with meanwell elg drivers, they kinda suck on 120v circuit.

Based on price of what you were looking at, I would snoop around the web for a 10% off code from hlg. I’m sure someone has one, and that would put 260 xl kits right about same price you were looking from budget led.

@dbrn32 No problem at all. Thanks for letting me know. Ok thank you so much for taking the time to look at that. I appreciate it very much. Seems like everyone is trying to sneak a little something past you. I will keep on searching. Maybe I will start I will go with 1 260 xl Rspec. Could 1 work for 2 plants? Then the 2nd time around add the 2nd light in? Possibly research a diy option as well.

If you’re trying to stay within certain budget that’s exactly what I would do. Get one now and then look to get another later. You could grow as ma t plants as you wanted with one really. They would suffer some yield loss potential, but it’s not like they wouldn’t grow.

I think that the route I am going to go. Going to tell the wife in the morning! Its veg footprint is 4x4 and flower is 2x4 I believe so 2 or 3 plants may work. Thanks again for all the information! This site is amazing! I will have my wife start a grow journal after we are all set up!

Awesome! Tag me in when you do. I don’t always have the time to hang around journals and chit chat, but I’m really good at dropping likes on bud pics haha!

@Travis23 Don’t but that Viparspectra worthless light. I have ran their PAR600 which is better than that version. I recommend HLG because it took me from 3.32 oz dried, cured and no stems to getting over 27 oz sried, cured and no stems.

@dbrn32 Ok I will definitely have her do that! Thanks again for everything!

@MrPeat I am going to pass on that one and start with 1 260xl Rspec! Unless I come across some deal for 2. May even be able to get the 2nd one as early as next month.

@Travis23 I know they are expensive but trust me, you will love the upgrade. My PAR600 draws almost the same watts as my HLG 260xl rspec kit. Which I have two
for both brands. And the HLG out performa my Vipars. :+1:

Alright everyone!

We have our tent (4x4×80), 2 Hlg 260 xl rspec, 6 inch T6 Infinity fan, a 6 inch vivosun carbon filter (was going to get a more expensive one but we are venting outside from the 2nd floor), ph test kit, ph up and dowm kit, seeds from ILGM, and 5 gallon fabric pots all on order! We will be getting the ducting from lowes along and soil from a local place. Anything else people can then of? Clip fans? I have a couple of bigger oscillating fans i dont use.

I have a couple new questions. For ventilation do we need a fan at the bottom to bring fresh air in or just open the ports at the botton? Also how do people have their window set up to vent outside? What are you connecting the ducting too?
With the T6 Infinity it has a temp and humidity gauge, should I pick up a wnd one for accuracy?

@RandomlyRan @MrPeat @dbrn32

You can do either. If you pump air in that’s active and if you just open the flaps and let the exhaust suck air in it’s passive. I do both. I have an intake fan and 1 flap open. My exhaust goes into the room but “the room” is my living room bedroom kitchen so it’s not a problem for me.
