Well I just got home and walking up to my house I caught a whiff, now it is like the smell spread further instead of staying close to the house I smelled it by the sidewalk must be from the AC exhaust I don’t know this s*** is crazy I need to hurry up and figure this out before I end up in a bad place literally lop
Understood. We’ve had it as bad as being able to smell it across the street, just depends how the wind blows. This can be one of the more challenging aspects of the hobby.
@Low @PogueMahone @Growdoc so when I put a piece of plastic up to the filter to see if it sucked it in, it did nothing. Is it suppose to? Or is it not that strong? I was under the impression if I put something up to the filter it would suck it to it like a return AC or something. Am I wrong or is my filter messed up?
You won’t have that kind of flow through the filter, I can feel air moving if I hold my hand on filter, but it won’t hold things to it.
@Growdoc okay yeah that’s how it was, good to know I’m not tripping. Well I thought I had the smell knocked down, I put one of those Dollar tree cent absorbers in the room and I stuck my nose in the room this morning and that is all it smelled like so I figured it must have taken care of the smell but when I went outside to the corner of my house by my mailbox you can smell it so strong in the whole vicinity. I think I’m going to get a few of those scent absorbers and just throw them in the wall by the exhaust
@Growdoc okay I just had a thought. Could it be possible that the carbon filter needs to be positioned vertically? I did see somewhere that some carbon filters are supposed to be positioned different. Also, another thought. Okay when I originally put my portable AC in there I cut a hole in the wall close to my bedroom and the exhaust had the walls in my living room hot at all times but when I ended up moving the AC closest to the window / outside wall I don’t notice the heat in my living room like I did before when the hole was about 6 ft over. So I’m thinking where I have my carbon filter exhaust at now, closest to the window / outside wall, it is pushing the air that is leaking from under the baseboards or whatever it may be it is pushing it all to my outer walls. So maybe if I was to either hook the exhaust up into the Attic or the other part of the wall, I won’t be pushing all the leak smell out.
You can try and see but I repeat, you’ll never contain it all without negative pressure, any leaks will let some out. I closed my tent off two days ago and you can’t even smell it in the lung room now, but open the tent and it’s all around the building outside. You can try everything but all leaks must be sealed for it to work. Some things can be short cut and some can be jury rigged, but some things only work a certain way. Only other options are trying to cover it up but that is harder than eliminating it most time. I run Downy Unstoppables in cups near the ac output, the building smells great but I still get weed strong with room or tent open.
So I noticed yesterday that I am getting negative pressure in my room because before the door used to push open and now it literally sucks in. I believe the negative pressure is coming from the AC unit being on but all in all I have negative pressure now. So yesterday I cut a small hole in the wall next to the exhaust exit and I put the scent absorber thing in the wall with like five or six dryer sheets and taped it up with the aluminum tape. I also turned my carbon filter to 50% from 75%. Well when I woke up this morning I did not really smell it on the side of the house. It is also not wet and muggy outside today so I’m wondering if that’s why it was so bad a few days ago. But I will see when I get home if I fixed the problem. I still think I need another carbon filter in the room probably. @Growdoc
Hope that does it! Humid days are worse, it holds smells to the ground.
Nice bro, yeah I had same problem, had to get tent but first tent got too small wasn’t tall enough lol. So got another and it’s tall enough but my problem lost my central unit ac, so to keep temp down. But I don’t vent outside and no smells inside. But I have a huge filter.
