Pics of the whole plant would be helpful. How many weeks has the plant been flowering?
At 8 - 10 weeks you should begin looking at the trichomes on flower with a cheap USB microscope.
Give us a little more info and weāll help you understand when is a good time to harvest.
Bro science stuff. If you take away a plantās energy source, you take away itās ability to maintain trichomes.

Itās an accurate method used to check the trichomes. Too early and youāll be having panic attacks, too late and the THC degrades leaving you without a buzz

Sativa strains will have an uplifting affect and would think harvesting too soon could amplify that as far as the breathless feeling. Iāve never experienced the choking feeling. I switched up from smoking joints and Bongs to Vaping dry herbā¦.Huge difference with how my lungs and throat feel

Gauging trichomes without magnification is kinda like checking temperature with your hand. You can get a rough idea, but a thermometer will give you a much more accurate reading.
Pulling too early, before hairs have receded and trichs have become cloudy/amber, can result in an all around unpleasant smoke. $22 on a wireless scope from Amazon is better than harvesting early and ending up with disappointing results.
