Nice beautiful big nugs though. I’m hoping to get at least a zip off my plants each this first grow. The hlg 65 v2 4000k is my main light. Lol. But hey, at least it’s a good one. Cant wait to get a rspec. Thays gonna be sweet. I’ll be happy to eventually get 4oz a plant since I’m doing autos.

I bought mine just before the r spec was released , so I have the v2 board non r spec.

I own 4 SPIDER FARMER sf2000 's & 1 chinese knock off equal to sf1000.
They are very good lights. Even the sf1000 knock off , All LEDs & quantum boards are made in Asia ( mostly china ) .
Most all use samsung LM301B or H (south Korea) for the 2 different color whites (heat range 3000k, 5000k mix) . Lm301B or LM301H .
Regardless of what people say , the B & H LEDs are the same diode. No difference
It’s the 660nm & 760nm reds That some light brands use cheaper leds. Cree red is very good for lasting.

Most all reputable brands use Meanwell drivers. So they are all pretty equal when it comes to efficiancy , light output , & dimming capabilities.
If you look at the watts they actually draw from the wall.
You just need to make sure you have ENOUGH LIGHT. Or You wont grow those nice flowers without enough light. Did i mention about having enough light ?

1 SPIDER FARMER sf4000 , or 2 sf2000 will safely flower a 4’ x4’ tent. Sf4000 draws about 410ish watts, from wall. 1 sf200 draws about 205ish from wall . That info should help you pick a new light. HLG is nice they have Good customer service , which is tough to get from a company halfway around the world.(like SPIDER FARMER or any chinese company)
I had issues with SPIDER FARMER customer service . Took over 2 months to get 2 lights warrantied. They ended up sending me parts ( drivers & dimmers) to fix it myself. Those issues did NOT stop me from buying another sf2000.
Its a money thing , HLG is good. So is SPIDER FARMER. SPIDER FARMER is more cost effective for me.

Ok, I think I’ve made up my mind, the winner is HLG XL QB V2 R SPEC led kit. specs say it’s 36 inches but its really 35 and change. It’ll fit in my tent.
I want to say a BIG thank you to all who responded and helped me get to this decision.
HAPPY GROWING!!!

Kinda where I’m at.
Would I love to have an HLG? Absolutely.
But right now, until I’ve grown enough to save myself some money, HLG isn’t an option.

Are they better than the “comparable” lights from most other companies? Probably.
But they doesn’t mean everything that isn’t HLG is trash. I’ve seen great looking plants under Mars and SF, and even under Maxsisun and no name Amazon SF knockoffs.

I’m not growing for a dispensary. I’m growing so I don’t have to buy for myself. Unless the difference is massive, it’s not practical, for me, to keep growing on a shoestring budget while I try to save $300+ for an HLG instead of “compromising” on a light that’s just over half the price and getting my grow fully established and going so I can actually start saving money.

I beg to differ on the quality subject. I’m willing to bet that the spider farmer is purchasing below top shelf bins for their diodes. HLG you’re getting top shelf quality, and efficiency.
The H diode is more efficient it’s a newer chip.

Everyone can make their own choices, but I’m willing to pay the extra up front, instead of the energy bill at the other end. Maybe I’m only kind of cheap.

Running lights 18 hour days for 365 even 2 watts difference over a period of a year, adds up.

Now if anyone were to post a blurple panel, sure I would say the any light with the Samsung chip in the fixture will be better. I won’t disagree there at all. But this was about hlg and spf.

Samsung says they are the same . The H was for marketing , horticulture. No bin difference.

Look up greengenes garden . He designs & makes lights along with growing . He works with samsung products. He asked that qustion directly . That was there responce. He mentions it atleast 2 times in the last year in his videos.

I will buy his lights when his stuff gets up & going.

Here’s the difference:

They both are made with same materials , they dont spray them . Some companies put a coating on the whole board. To make it that 67 rating
But , Its all advertising. Honestly. I wouldn’t make this stuff up. No need to. They rounded up the efficiancy to 2.8 on the lm301H from the 2.7 Lm301B. All advertising
Just to get a little more money. And these companies jack up the price.
I did at one point see a price from bulk sales . H is almost a penny more . But when in bulk these LEDs are less then $.10. Each before they get put onto a board of course.

Some of it is, but when HLG ships their boards to a 3rd non-biased party to test the boards and give hard data results, kind of hard to disagree with the numbers? Including umols.

One can grow buds with cfls (a lot of them) as well as blurple panels, cmh, hps, etc.
but since I pay for electricity I prefer to use the best spectrum and highest efficacy lights I can afford.

You decide where your budget and priorities lead.

Who is the 3rd party ?
Migro ? I like him.
Even when you test a light, you are testing a while light board with a driver . Not just 1 LED.
Some boards have different amout of LEds , along with different amount red & IRs . They also play a big roll in efficiancy, i believe 660nm takes the least amount currant to light. So even if 2 boards have the same number amount of leds. The colors need to be the same to get an equal comparison.

Current Quantum Boards are made in USA, ripoffs are made in China.

Negative. 301H vs 301B is not binning or model difference, come off same assembly line. There is an error on data sheet for 1 particular cct that makes them look different, and 301h data sheet lists anti sulfurization coating. But Samsung has verified 301b has also.

Light Laboratory Inc is the company hlg uses for integrated sphere data. Not hand tested with sensor.

I’m going to be running a mars hydro tsl2000 next to a hlg 320xl in the same tent.
Can’t think of a better way to compare the two than that
