Seems to be very space consuming to have so many plants of all your grows. Is there a method to which space could be maximized and lighting wont be a great cost either? Just trying to figure out what can work for me in my space. I got the clone king up and running, I checked this morning and sure enough a few clones have taken roots. I admire your wealth of knowledge and the patience you have to help us all.
I know @Hellraiser does it out of pure passion but I feel with the amount of traffic and help he provides to this site - An ILGM sponsorship or Hellraiser hosted contest at the least is greatly deserved ! Thanks for helping us all out man - you’re a champ !
Bricks or bags? Loose coco you can pretty much buffer them day or 2 before and call it ready. I’m not sure about the bricks, I don’t use them.
Bricks, my first time using them - I’m typically a bagged Coco guy as well.
I’ve never used coco as I’m a soil guy so can’t help you there. As for your lighting another option would be to advance your on time by an hour. I’ve done this in the past with no problems. Just start your day a little earlier to give you the light needed
@YankieDoodle … Start with these vids. They should help you a lot.
I use with HOT water to start the process of breaking down the brick.

Thank you very much. I recieved my bricks of Coco yesterday.
Today I’m hoping to get my flowering room finished up and I plan to transplant on Monday.
I will watch all these videos as soon as possible. Just so I have a heads up, how long does this process take and when should I start to be ready by Monday ?
Keeping plants/clones small (until you want them bigger) helps with not taking up much space or needing much light. I use a 2x2 tent and a HLG 135 bspec to hold a few clone mothers in 6 inch pots and as any clones as needed in solo cups (when looking for the next mother).
Check out my first coco grow, I cover how I expanded the bricks.
August 21st
Apologies for my lack of updates - very hectic time of year on top of finalizing my room and getting in the swing !
Current Situation
I transplanted my favorite dozen plants into flowering on August 4th as planned.
There are six plants each on two separate 4x4’ tables, in a roughly 5x12’ room.
Plants transplanted into Mother Earth coco - washed, buffered and 30% perlite added.
Outer eight plants planted in 3.5 gallon fabric pots - inner four planted in 3 gallon fabric pots.
I have one HLG 350R hanging above each table.
At transplant, I left my light turned on six out of ten clicks.
After one week, I turned both lights up one click and began my auto watering system.
Plants are receiving five gallons of full strength Jacks between one dozen plants each feeding - twice daily.
I have one 12” fan circulating airflow along with another 8” clip fan cooling my lights.
It’s been a very hot time period - I have my dehumidifier running 24/7 on turbo and emptying twice daily.
Temperatures have remained around 79-83 degrees with humidity ranging 69-74%.
Trellis has been added to maintain sea of green.
Current Observations
Each plant is showing signs of all around growth daily - some much more significantly.
First round of bending done three days ago - second bends and redirecting being applied as needed.
Pistols are developing very strong throughout the table, no signs of flowering yet.
There have been a few strands of grass that have popped up in the Mother Earth coco.
I have spotted three very small insects on two different plants.
The insects look like a very tiny sliver of blonde hair, about 1 or 2mm long and only the width of a hair strand.
It seems they are creating small holes within the foliage - currently only a few leaves between both plants that they have been spotted.
After noticing indoors and inspecting my outdoors thoroughly, I have noticed the same insect outdoors but also one one or two spotted within garden.
Current Questions
What can I do to control my insect issue indoors ?
Is my flowering cycle on schedule having not shown signs of flowering yet ?
I think best bet is to get positive id on the bugs, then find appropriate measures. If they are eating leaves, I would like to say spinosad would probably handle it. But always best to know what you’re treating for first.
I agree but like I mentioned this is my first run in with any insect issue. The markings are hardly noticeable, looks like minuscule water markings.
I googled around before posting and from what I was seeing, they look most like thrips although I don’t think they are thrips.
I can try and get some pictures if I notice any more to see if anyone else has any knowledge on identifying.
Thank You !
If you’re worried about these insects you could spray with a soapy solution, that keeps everything natural. But beware with these things as they breed like you wouldn’t believe so a keep a very close eye on them. You could end up with a severe infestation within days. I’m not a fan of pesticides and prefer a more natural solution. Some growers use sticky traps. Keep an eye on your routine as well. I always went to my gown then my greenhouse. One day I did the opposite and ended up taking spider mites in to my grow
I was also thinking a soapy spray as I would like to keep things natural.
I had noticed the similar markings outdoors almost right after they had been out there. I have been spraying every 5 days and the problem has not progressed at all outdoors.
I wanted to reach out and get some opinions before I made my move indoors but I agree about being timely and would like to act quick.
I’ve been keeping a close eye indoors and have not noticed any more insects as of yet.
Does anyone have a soap and water solution they could recommend, brand and ratios ?
Thanks guys !
Spray more frequently than every 5 days as these critters multiply at an awesome rate. Spider mites are every 3 days. I use about 6 drops of dish soap and 10 drops of peppermint oil in a 1 ½ gallon garden sprayer. Works amazingly well. Peppermint oil is toxic to spiders and the soap keeps it suspended in the water. The soap also clogs up the breathing holes in their bodies and they suffocate. I’ve also started to add hydrogen peroxide to the mix as well. I have 12% food grade there and I dilute it at 30ml to 1 ½ gallon and I feel it’s still too strong
August 23rd
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to Yankie Stadium !
Two weeks into flowering - Start of week three.
Current Practices
Plants are being fed five gallons of Jacks at full strength twice daily through irrigation system - properly pH’d between 5.8 - 6.2.
First bends made about three days ago and have been bending as needed every day since.
Two 12 inch fans running, one isolating on one end and the other blowing towards the wall on the other end.
Both lights kicked up from 7 to 8 clicks at the start of this week.
Current Observations
Temperatures have been ranging between 79 to 83 degrees.
Humidity has been ranging from 70 to 80 percent.
I have not noticed any more insects since I had last mentioned - I have noticed some transparent looking very small markings.
After getting pictures and then removing and observing, it didn’t seem like much anything.
First plants to begin flowering are gaining much growth.
Four plants are taking a bit longer to begin flowering.
Current Questions
I was doing a lot of moving around overhead while installing fans last night - markings could potentially be just dust ?
Are the differences in flowering times all natural ?
Should I continue to increase my light strength weekly or just crank it up ?
Thank You to everyone who has helped me get this far - such an exciting experience !
Not sure about the markings, but I would continue to gradually increase light. Give it a few days and kick them up another notch. You should probably be most focused on getting your rh down some right now. 70 not bad, but could lead to some problems with mold after your buds start developing. I would like to see you get to 60% if possible with your current temp range.
Appreciate the response !
Definitely focused on my humidity. Dehumidifier is running on turbo 24/7.
Mother Nature and I have some great timing, it is one of the most hot and humid times of year here right now.
Going into September, temperatures should get much more comfortable.
Tomorrow an AC is being installed in a separate room to transfer my Mother’s and Babies - as they are currently right next door in the same conditions.
My humidity is 56 right now. As I get further in to flowering I will drop it a bit more. As for your lights dbrn has you covered there. Air movement is key as you know, any areas where your air movement is static will result in mould so you have that nailed as well. Nice looking grow room you have going on there, love it
Thank you my friend !
This has been an exciting and hectic run as I have been getting set up on the fly entirely. I definitely didn’t realize how much longer everything takes doing it on your own !
I keep reminding myself that this is my impulsive run and I must stay focused on getting all dialed in.
Next run, I plan to have everything how I want it and ready to go so that I can focus much more on what I’m doing with my grow.
I made a mistake a few days ago when I mentioned planting on the 4th. I actually transplanted into flowering on the 9th.
After just 14 days, nice looking growth and almost the entire canopy filled !
Bending and shaping plants is where I really enjoy myself, I’ll keep some photo updates coming.
Overhead view before bending tonight.
