My favorite ways to play with my planties is to “Flèche” them. It’s a HST technique that @Arrow developed and taught me a while ago. Now I’m riffing on it and having tons of fun.
I will be watching with great interest. I won’t be entering this contest because my training techniques are very low key compared to the masters of training.
For anyone wanting to get started with training in a low-risk way here is a link to my current grow which just started receiving LST in preparation for the SCROG frames in a week or two.
I don’t agree with that sentence my friend.
Your training is really on point and yields you bountiful harvests grow after grow.
I may be more extreme with my training, but that also introduce a lot of stress… Your techniques are a lot less stressful for the planties and could yield just as much as something harsher…
Don’t put yourself down @merlin44 , your techniques have proven themselves many times over and are worth sharing, imo!
May you and Lady Gwendolyne have the greatest of day my friend.
I used LST and some clips (I think are in there ) on this AK47 after I topped her. This was probably more LST than I ever used on a plant. Lots of tie downs used
Well I don’t really have much experience with training yet as this is my first grow but I am having pretty good results so far with some lst training on a ILGM Autoflower Papaya Kush.
I used pipe cleaners and some id bag clips and just gently adjusted them every few days to encourage this squat little lady to spread out a little giving more light availability to the lower buds.
Thank you kind sir I only hope to achieve your level of skill one day Trust and belive your beautiful work and amazing examples are part of the reason I had the nerve to try it. Im so excited to try out some of your methods in my future grows
I train in a very specific way for a very specific reason.
I can not safely move a large plant in and out of the tent and I can not lean over for more than a minute or 2 so maintaining the plants in a tent will not work for me. The second factor is the nature of the lights I have which have a big hot spot in the middle and gets weaker at the edges
I pull my main stem over and run it it a direction that ensure no or minimal stems are pointing down.
I move the lowers out and away from the plant main stem.
Once turned up during stretch I install Knex gantry supports to force the plants along a path. These are used to not just position the flower tops but to move the tops up and down in the light column.
Does it always work? For the most part with some flexibility.
Same ILGM White Widow but this plant was on average 25% more light and still stretched beyond what I like. The great thing about the gantry supports is you can double them up and run one 30 inches up from dirt to support even the tallest bud flowers.
I also use the circular bowl to place all my lowers. I keep the inner bowl clear of fans. This is the hot spot in the light and it penetrates lowers well enough to always give me tight small buds.
