so i was just thinking about the bud of month is it true you can only show pics if they are of the ilgm seeds only if true it seems a little strange and love to know the resons behind this are they scared of some 1 having great bud that isnt there seed

Yes, it is true you post your picture ( BOM ) alone with your order number. They offer free seed with the winner. This site is totally free for people to share and learn information.

You have to provide your order number to enter and then they send your prize to the address on file. It keeps 10 year olds from picking a photo from the net and getting seeds. Its ILGMs forum and they spend money to run it. It is simply a way to thank their customers.
There are threads to post your pics of great buds…we like all buds.

@RiccardoVasquez this is a positive community, I would caution you from taking that tone.
The seed contest is a long running contest that is supported by ILGM, and many have won. If you search you’ll find the same.
This is true, and a journal helps verifies the flower, and said plant in the pictures. ILGM gives out the free seeds, to the winner, as @Spiney_norman mentioned. It’s all down to the individual grower, and how well they grow it.
We do accept anything else to do with growing, and support anyone’s grow journal no matter the genetics. Lots of members have other genetics, and grow them.
For BOM entries though it is required to be ILGM genetics, as they pay for the forum.

The seed shop pays for this forum and they frankly ask very little of us. ILGM wants to have documented grows of their genetics so IMO there’s nothing at all strange about it.

Prettiest flower contest recently was open to all genetics regardless of who sold them. Worth mentioning since it blows the whole “they’re afraid” notion out of the water.

My two cents are this: ILGM is a seed selling site. They sell seeds. They need pictures of their strains. BOM is an obvious way to get the community to submit multiple photos for their strains so they don’t have to go out and do it themselves - they’re busy making seeds, not growing beautiful buds for smoking (not mutually exclusive, but my seeded bud tends to be much uglier).
They aren’t real worried about others’ genetics. I grow my own genetics here, I even sell them (not here, on another site), and ILGM has been more than patient with the fact that I’m here, taking up their forum space, moderators’ time and energy, with my own projects. It’s a hugely supportive community. The BOM Contest is just a little reward for those who invested a little bit of capital into some ILGM genetics. It helps them pay for the forum.
Lastly, regarding the “it’s not real” thing (I know that wasn’t you, OP), the BOM, Strain of the Month, and Prettiest Flower contests are all very real. I have won BOM. I have been awarded “Valued Member of the Month.” I’ve been able to get more ILGM seeds as a direct result, which allows me to grow them and share them with others.
I dunno, I can’t say enough about how wonderful this forum is. Is it perfect? Nah. But is it the best, least judgmental Grow forum you’ll ever encounter for free on the internet? Hands down yes.
