This site is very useful don’t get me wrong. Considering every grow is different it’s just hard to find the answers spelled out the way they would apply to my questions. I hope my plant isn’t messed. Everything was going so well until a week ago. I will flush with sledgehammer tonight and post when I see results. Thank you @Donaldj for the encouragement
please let me know what kind of soil you are using to it can greatly effect ph needs and clawing which I see in some pictures is confirming my suspicion of need for a flush it can be caused by too much N which is most readily avail at widest range of ph
I’m using fox farm ocean forest nothing else mixed in. 6.3-6.5 ph water until week two then very light feedings after that. I feel like they flowered early and are stunted growth wise. Any other info needed just ask or read the beginning of my post to see my setup. I have 5 gallon pots, should I flush with only one or two gallons of water since I’m using sledgehammer?
There is most def some clawing going on. These symptoms have been going on for a week now.
lol I flush with distilled or RO water but important factor is that you are rinsing soil so I start with 10 gallons for 5 gal pots then measure run off ppm/ph I like to see it around 300 ppm and ph correct before I follow flush with a feed mix. This is done because if correctly flushed they will have very little nutrients remaining in soil and can take 4-5 days to dry enough to water or feed again. If ppm isn’t under 400ppm I run another 5 gallons through and measure since this is stressful I don’t stop process until all numbers are where I want so no I’ll finish tomorrow thinking
After flushing feed 1/2 dose of your standard feed chart they won’t perk up any for a day or 2 but keep in mind takes weeks for existing issues to show
Nice. Thank you. I am also using RO water and I’m mixing in 2ml of sledgehammer per gallon. I will test at the end of the second gallon and see. I’ve learned so much in so little time lol. If I’m getting between 300 and 400 ppm I will feed my normal 1/4 strength feed unless you think I should go half. The ph going in is 6.5 and ppm is like 35
First gallon flush with sledgehammer: 1900ppm
Second gallon flush with sledgehammer: 1300ppm
@Donaldj
So I flushed with 15 or more gallons of distilled water. I PHed the last two and measured runoff at 350. I fed a gallon of water with my flower feed mix ph 6.5 ppm560. After I fed I tested runoff at 350 and ph at 6.7 this is confusing to me because I thought I would see closer to my target numbers. Thoughts? I’m gonna put her back in the tent for now. She’s been out a few hours.
lol displacement as you put something into a full container it forces out something else in this case the feeding displaced the flush water so a more accurate ppm would’ve been taken from the run off left in tray after letting it trickle through. Don’t worry would be about what I would expect
I will. I plan on flushing my other plant that is ten days behind. I did the same thing with her as I did with the one I flushed so it will need it. With the nutes flushed should I feed more often now?
Feed as per usual build ups are what they are built up over time and if you use a schedule which is water water feed with 10% run off build ups are far slower but are inevitable the longer a plant is in soil just check run off ppm and monitor next time you will be ahead of the curve some and it’s a planned event rather than an a have to event
Damn nice looking for 11 days. Mines a tiny thing! Stunted. Plus it’s winter and cold as hell so trying to keep the temps right. At 1st I had the light to close and was to hot. Have some other seeds trying to germinate the way I read on here so far only 1 out of 4 are popping open.
Frustrated
Dude yeah things are great. Here’s some pics I just took. I did a little LST on the small plant (26 days) I’m probably going to put it on some books or something to keep it closer to the light. Any suggestions on where I put my co2 jug? Or anything else? I haven’t watered the big plant since the flush. The pot is still heavy and it’s looking pretty good other than some purple on some lower stems. It was spotting in before the flush. I put 2ml of emerald harvest cal mag in the feed mix after flush. Not sure if that was good or bad.
Since you’re here lol, I do have a noob question. My day count. I started my count when the plant sprouted through the soil. When I germed both seeds I put them into RO water for 24 hours and then planted in the soil.
It took 5 days for the sprout to show after I planted both times. Just wondering if I wasted days in the plants life because of the germ method.
Both times there was no tail out of the seed when I planted. When I see people do the paper towel method, there’s tails 95% of the time.
Basically I don’t feel like I’m on point with my day count and I want to be sure where I’m at on my feed schedule.
