So can you please tell me exactly what I would need to buy for soil? I’m not following, thank you
Ok it depends on if u wanna grow in soil coco or do hydro style. If u wanna go soilmy suggestion would be get u some fox farms ocean Forrest soil take a solo cups worth of that out the bag. Have holes in the solo cup and lots of holes. The more the better but full that cup with ffof soil and run PhD water thru it til it is soaked and dripping out. Leave it set for 10 mins and put more PhD water thru it til it comes out a little bit leave it set for 10 mins again now run one more PhD water thru it again til u get nice amount of runoff and leave it be. That will wash out some of the nutrients that are in the soil so it is not quite so hot leave it set for about 15 mins or so and use a tooth pick and make a small hole for the seed. Once the seed cracked and got a tail drop it in tail down carefully not to break the tapcover lightly with soil. Just under the top layer not too deep mist one spray with water to get the top soil to settle on the seed and around the tap root cover that with a clear solo cup or a plastic bag use tape to hold bag to cup as a dome that will hold moisture in to keep all moist longer and hold heat in the bag area put it under a light a regular house light will do good for time being keep it in a warm area about 75 to 80 and keep the baggie close to the bulb so it keeps a little heat to the bag that will create sweat inside the baggie to keep all moist as possible. When u sprout and see green leaves u can leave the bag on still keep the moisture up in the cup when u get ur first set of true leaves uncover it and put it under a grow light not real strong power I don’t know ur light but low power and close enough to not stretch it out. If u wanna do coco I’d say canna coco bricks or bags or gorilla boost super buffered was really good stuff too. I don’t add any perlite to my coco as it would require a little more watering that way I just do strait coco only
Go to the jacks site JK Peters and read that it will explain how to use their products. Jacks 3-2-1 is perfect for soil. It is a 3 part system. They also offer one part system but the 3 part is what most people on this site use if using jacks. It’s a very basic system don’t get overly anxious. It’s harder to really understand until you actually have the product and see how easy it is. Then I’d look at other sites to purchase the 3 part system. There is a starter pack that is fairly cheap that has everything you need in it. Ebay is a good place also Amazon or even other grow supply stores/sites. The JK Peters site is more expensive than some other places. I hope this helps you a little. It can all be super overwhelming when you first start. Reading for months everyone saying this is better or this is no good or don’t do this then other people say definitly do this. It is person specific for sure. Imo buy the basics to get started and start a grow journal and ask questions as you go. There is so many different things that can happen that you will drive yourself crazy trying to prevent everything. Plant your seed follow nute feeding schedule and post your grow with questions on this site. I have found that with pics the fellow growers on this site will see way more going on with your plant than you would think possible. Don’t stress it’s fun once you see real growth.
It’s a one part for RO water. Take a look at it on the JR Peter’s website. I copied this:
" Product Details
For the Purest in you. This one part nutrient blend is designed for crops grown in very low alkalinity waters such as reverse osmosis (RO) water, rainwater, and distilled water. Formulated utilizing the innovative raw materials to reduce pH crash while delivering all the nutrients essential for vigorous plant growth."
One part nutrient blend. It confused the hell out of me too at first. Jack’s 321 is a three part. Jack’s for tap, RO or outdoor are one part.
I downloaded the feed schedule for 12-4-16. You use 6.31 grams of 12-4-16 and 0.99 grams of epsom salt per gallon. Guess it’s actually a two part after adding epsom. There’s another schedule that uses 12-4-16 for veg and Jack’s 321 during flowering.
If you use a pre loaded soil like FFOF or happy frog you don’t start using nutes until the runoff ppm is 1000 or below. I’ve never grown in soil in a container, but I’ve read that usually happens in 4-6 weeks. Whether growing in soil, coco or hydro we all use the same nutrients. Just different methods with different frequency and strength.
BTW, I think it’s so confusing because of how it looks on the JR Peters website. It makes it look like you need tap, RO or outdoor AND part B. It’s very confusing. IDK why they don’t just have a and b listed together then a big OR pick one of these. When you throw in clone, bloom, ultraviolet, etc right there with them it just makes it that much worse. I thought I was gonna be buying six or seven different things. All you need is a and b OR tap, RO or outdoor. The other stuff is optional.
If you go to jacks nutrients dot com and there is a section where you can email them and their specialists will help you figure out what you need. Hope that helps. They have a 1 part and a 3 part and lots of other products as well. So talking to them directly will be the best way to figure out which way to go if you are having problems.
Where did you get the caddy in that second picture? Looks like that tray holds a lot of run off. I’m currently using the ones that @Borderryan22 suggested but I like to get my 20% runoff and the trays on those are to small.
Jacks is easy peasy to use. It’s as simple as 3,2,1. 3 grams of part a, 2g of part b and 1 gram epson salt. Feed every time you water. I tried a bunch of different nutes and I just say these are the easiest nutes ever! Get on eBay. You can buy small bags someone made from the huge bags for like $30. Comes from Michigan or Maine. You won’t be sorry using 3,2,1. Hope this helps
So i dont know alot about “Jacks” in detail.
But I believe you can call or email them telling them you want to grow cannabis in soil useing whatever water source and they will tell you what you need.
I use General Hydroponics nutrients simply because it’s what I’m used to, it’s “tried and true” folks been useing it successfully for decades…
Mostly I use Flora series which is a 3 part liquid FloraMicro, FloraGro, FloraBloom.
General Hydroponics also makes a 1 part series (powder) called Maxi-gro for veg, Maxi-bloom for flower
I also use the Maxi series quite a bit. For veg i probably use more of the 1 part just because it’s so easy and quick to mix up. But I use the 3 part more in flower and i tweak the ratios but i do use the Maxi-bloom sometimes if im in a hurry and it works just fine…
These work with soil, coco-coir, or any other forms of hydroponics.
Lol what are the odds man, I literally picked up the 3 part flora nutes a couple days ago and have since used them once, I didn’t even have to adjust the ph as it came out perfectly at 6.3. The lady at the store said it’s used for hydro but works in soil great, I can’t say much about it so far, but I’m watering again today and I don’t see anything wrong with them so far.
GH trio is definitely the “OG” in the nutrient world and it’s not that expensive if you buy 1gal size or larger.
They are labeled as “hydroponic nutrients” but any hydroponic nutrients will work with soil also ![]()
Jacks may be cheaper idk ![]()
But GH will work just as good ![]()
I think I’m sold so far, it is cheap and easy to understand
2nd time useing the flora 3 part, I added a little epson and bud candy with this watering, my ph again was 6.2, everything else I’ve used in the beginning needed the ph adjusted.
Do whatever works for you buddy. I had issues with nutes in the beginning and wasn’t sure if you were having issues asking.
General Hydroponics definitely works for me.
This my last journal I did and there’s others if ya want see the results.
I’ve only ever used General Hydroponics and I’ve never had an issue with them.
My plants sometimes have nutrient issues as they can be funny sometimes and require more or less of something. But that’s normal no matter what nutrient line used I guess.
Let your pics load all the way before you hit reply or they don’t come through buddy.

Thats not loaded pictures my freind, that is a link that is loaded properly ![]()
You can access the images though by tapping any of the numbers and it will display the images without following the link. But that’s how it looks when you use the “copy url” and paste it ![]()
Oh my bad. I didn’t even click on them. Normally when it pops up like that in the blue it’s photos that weren’t loaded. My fault
What strain are the plants in this photo. Very pretty. Oh and I don’t mean to hijack the thread…just wondering.
