Mixing order generally is silica, calmag, base nutes (micro, grow then bloom for example), bloom booster if using one, then humic or fulvic acid if using, last rapid start, rhizotonic or other root enhancers. Mix it all up then check your EC. pH it and you’re ready to feed. If you’re not using any of the things listed just move on to the next one.
Another option for keeping your pots out of the runoff. I gave $2 and change for each of them. All the garden stuff is on clearance if there’s any left at the big box stores. Can probably order them online too.
I’ve seen that Nute mix order before and yo u are supposed to let silica sit in water for 10 min before mixing other nutes. Isn’t that for gravity watering or hydro I thought. I’ve been told with soil you keep your nutes separate. Is this wrong?
Those methods of growing ate designed for water growth but when in a soil medium it’s not designed to deal with wet dirt around the roots that cause rot
I always give silica an hour or overnight to dissolve. Usually overnight so I don’t have to wait to mix in the rest of the nutes before watering. You mix all your nutrients together. Last grow I used 10 or 12 bottles of GH stuff. Would have been a heck of a chore and completely unnecessary using all of them separately.
The only thing I don’t mix in is recharge. I apply it separately after watering. A lot of people mix it right in with the rest of their nutes though. I feel like you lose less of it to runoff doing it like I do.
Ok are you talking about soil hand watering? Or using a gravity or controlled watering system. You said recharge so is that coco you are using this method for? Just curious cause goes against what I’ve read, but that job experience so that’s why I ask.
I grow in coco and water by hand. If I was growing in soil I’d do it exactly the same but less frequently. I’d also mix the nutes the same way if they were going in a reservoir of some kind or a self watering base.
If u were in coco I’d say it is safe to water til runoff and leave it o have done it many of times without harm in soil like u have they need wet dry times so soak today then most likely won’t have to water for a day or 2 then soak it down get about 20% runoff so 20 % is if u put in 2 gallons of mix to soak it ur gonna wanna have atleast 2 to 3 cups of stuff u suck back out the tray. Doing the sucking out pills all the unused nutes and washes them out some and makes for a fresh clean root zone if u keep letting it set in the mix in tray it is most likely going to cause u some pH problems as the nutes sit the pH changes with temps and the dirt soaking up this or that will def cause u an issue. I’d always suck trays dry after the watering get rid of what flows out the bottom so it has the fresh good Phd mix to drink up
I imagine growing in prepared/buffered coco perlite mix in a Hempy pot, with synthetic nutrients, watering/feeding everyday to rinse away salts until 10-20% runoff, keeping the grow media moist, is probably the easiest way for a new grower.
Growing in soil, understanding when to water, the wet/dry cycle, with synthetic nutrients, flushing salt buildup in the soil, etc is probably harder for a new grower to get used to. It’s not hard, just not as easy as coco watering/feeding everyday IMO.
Growing in soil, using organic nutrients not requiring runoff or flushing, but still needing a wet/dry cycle is probably somewhere in the middle.
Once I went to living soil, my quality and terps definitely increased. I started in happy frog with fox farms nutes. I dabbled in DWC and finally found what works best for me. I did grow in pots of living soil but was unable to move tge 30 gallon and 20 gallon pots on my own. Since i have a dedicated veg tent and a dedicated flower tent, I had to rely on help moving the pots. I tried the earthbox with living soil and now i can move my boxs on wheels and watering is so much easier.
If you get Jack’s 321 it’s a three part system. You get part A (5-12-25) and B (15-0-0) from JR Peters and the third part, epsom salt, from wherever. I got the cheap BOGO at Walgreen’s. JR Peter’s has new products now that are all in one. So if you get Jack’s for tap, for example, it’s a one part nutrient. They also make a one part for RO water and one for outdoor growing.
Edit: I’m not saying buy a and b from JR Peters directly…you can find them cheaper elsewhere
I don’t know why this is so confusing to me but it certainly is. So what your saying is that this is a one part from start to finish? this one is for ro water, even reading their description is difficult for me to understand it’s not clear as if this is for soil or hydro? I’m currently useing soil.
No jacks is a 3 part regime. It is a same amount of mix from start to finish unless u see a slight issue then u can up the nitrate or calcium parts to fix this or that. It’s pretty simple once u do it once u’ll be like damn so easy. I will never change unless they stop making jacks it’s super easy my kids could mi it if I needed lol
