Those are beauties! What do you estimate as a final weight?
Thank you @Bamarayne. I think for the most part they’ll be around 5 to 8 ounces each final dry weight, but a couple of them might hit 9 or 10 if I’m lucky. Typically on a soil grow with 8 autos I’ll end up between 50 and 60 ounces. That’s from a 4 x 6 closet with a Scorpion Diablo, a 2 1/2 x 5 tent with a 350R, and a 2 x 4 tent also with a 350R. When I grow in coco, it goes up by about 2 ounces per plant, but it also costs more in nutrients and takes a lot more of my time. Lately I’ve been alternating back and forth, one grow in soil, then the next in coco. That’s been working well for me. I work my ass off feeding twice a day for 3 months in coco, then take it easier for 3 months feeding once a day in soil.
Yet another really nice grow! So many el-bees! Wheeeee! I hope I can get to a fraction of the goodness you’re achieving regularly.
That’s why I do soil I work 60 hrs a week I just don’t have time to be doing that. Amazing harvest though @Cap_Ron can’t wait for the next run gromie.
I’m with you hoss. When it gets time to water daily , that’s bad enough for me. I’ve got to figure a better way of mixing and delivery, more efficient. I like what I hear about the results of coco, was thinking about coco and auto pots sometime, sometime. I can get good results from soil, thanks to all the help on here. Do have to give a shout out to @Cap_Ron for getting me starting in solo cups. Can’t believe the difference from direct planting. Thanks man!
So I thought I was going to start seeds for the next run sometime last week, but after a closer inspection of these big girls I decided they’re going to need the full 14 weeks at least, maybe even a few extra days for some of them. So I had to wait a bit, but it’s finally time. I’ll start soaking seeds tonight.
I live in a single wide trailer, so space is very limited. My spare bedroom is the grow room, and there’s no space in there for the nursery tent, the only place I can set it up is in my bedroom, and unfortunately it has to go right in the middle of the highest area of cat traffic in my trailer, lol.
This is where I set it up. It would be totally impossible to keep the cats off of it, so I go out of my way to make sure it’s as safe as possible for them, and also safe from them, lol.
It’s a 27×27, very limited space in there, so I made the PVC frame and use wire closet shelf on it for a surface that allows good air flow, and I keep the heater, humidifier, a fan, and temperature controller underneath it, and 4 ratchet hangers hold up the shelf. The piece of Romex is just a post to keep the temp and humidity probes in the best place, and the Inkbird humidity controller hangs on the outside.
It’s a big pain in the ass to set this thing up and break it down 4 times a year, it takes several hours each time, but ultimately it cuts 2 weeks off each harvest by giving them a jump start 2 weeks before my current grow is finished so it’s definitely worth the effort.
Last step before powering up and getting seeds soaking is to hide it from my neighbors or anyone passing by who might peek in my window. One of my cat’s loves to sit at the bedroom window, so it’s out of the question to close the blinds, lol. I hang this sheet to hide the whole thing!
The big girls are doing great. I’ll remove most of the fan leaves over the next several nights, and I’ll switch from feedings to straight water in another 5 or 6 days or so.
I’ll also start a new journal for the next grow once I get them planted in the solo cups!
This thread’s been great and I’m looking forward to the next one.
Nice workaround! I bet you have the happiest cats on the planet too.
Agreed. @Cap_Ron post a link for the new one when you get it going if you wouldnt mind
Thank you @NedBogan @CC_Mo and @brownsfan100
I’ll definitely post a link here when I start the next journal.
My cats have no clue whatsoever how incredibly spoiled they are, lol.
I like the design of your nursery tent! Hope you get a chance to post pics of the big girls before you chop em.
Thank you @WilIy. Most definitely, I’ll do an update on the big girls tomorrow night. I’m going to try to get in and out of there as fast as possible tonight because I have to change my RO membrane and filters before I water in the Solo cups. I made the mistake of buying a cheaper low quality membrane from Amazon, and it’s junk. A few months in and the EC of my RO water was over 150. I used it that way to feed the big girls for the last month or so, but I want the new kids to get off to the best start possible!
That is a nice set up there. Both for the plants and cats. My grow stuff takes up 2 rooms and part of my room. It gets out of control fast. I had been eyeing that 27x27 tent my self for the same thing. It would fit in my closet and I could remove the 2x4 I veg in that is in my room. I may have to get one of those ordered up today I was worried about it fitting the heater and humidifier in it. I see you have no problems
Yeah, it’s the perfect size tent for starting seedlings. I have a 24x24 I use occasionally to dry a single plant if one finished sooner or well after the rest, but I couldn’t fit any of my grow lights in it. My 300Rspec just fits in the 27x27.
I’ll definitely be testing it’s limits over the next week and change. I just planted 22 seeds an hour ago. I won’t be able to keep all of them, so they’re going to have to compete with each other for a place in the line up. Slackers won’t earn a spot, lol.
I have that same small humidifier in my dry room.
Just curious Ron, after you soak for 24 hours you put them in the dirt regardless if the tap Root pops out or not?
Yes, I plant them straight from the soak, and usually there’s no tap root yet. Sometimes I can see that they’ve cracked already, but even when they’re not I just plant them anyway.
I actually planted a bunch that way today. There will probably be a few who pop up by tomorrow night, but most will take until sometime Wednesday.
I like that humidifier. I use the warm mist ones in the colder months and the cool mist ones in the summer.
I can’t wait to cut these girls down. Some of them smell so good I don’t want to walk out of the grow room.
Man you are in for a lot of work lol labor of love tho. I wore myself out with 3 medium sized bushes. Great looking monsters my friend
Bravo Ron. That is by far the absolute most gorgeous grow I’ve seen. When I grow up I want to be half as good as you!
Truly amazing looking buds. Those black leaves remind me of that Afghanistan land race.
