I am growing in a closet with the door open and a fan blowing air from about 6’ away from the closet. I also have a fan in the closet pointing toward the top of the wall and an 8" AC Infinity fan and filter going so plenty of airflow and yes the leaves are moving quite a bit.
Alright I got off topic for a second d and I apologize. I do t know anyone who’s grown more autos than me. I’ve done it literally every way from indoor to outdoor and solid to NFT, hydro and coco.
Consistently my findings are this. They will grow longer in veg in the outdoors. Never had one flower before week 5. You never want any setbacks from lack of or too many nutrients. Indoors the average time is 4 weeks although some go longer like stardawg and a few from fast buds. The reason you have a thin stalk in my opinion is because you are growing in dirt and the roots do not grow as fast in solid vs. hydroponics. What light(s) are you using?
Once my autos have 4 leaves I give them EVERY watt I have which is an HLG 550 with an HLG 260 in a 5x5 or two HLG 260’s in a 4x4. By the 3rd node or 6th leaves I am full tilt on my nutrients. This again is very hard to do in soil because they retain nutes and that can cause a lockout.
In closing if you want huge autos it’s either outdoors or indoors on a hydro system with big ass lights. And I now recommend floraflex nutrients as the best there is. If you’d like to build a hydro system for under $250 I will gladly teach you as I have many others or you can search out my posts and I have some threads there too.
Ps my best auto was 9oz from a Pineapple Express and 4.5 is a great average.
This is all very interesting. I think the advice I got from most people on here wasn’t applicable to autoflowers. I was told to hold off on nutrients until at least week 4 since Fox Farm Ocean Forest is supposed to have enough to get through that amount of time. I was also told it wasn’t necessary to have my light turned up all the way until my plant got bigger. I am using an HLG 260W QB V2 rspec. I honestly thought my plant was just starting to take off in veg mode and here it is flowering already.
I will say that I am not looking to grow a huge plant. I am growing for personal use and if I can get somewhere in the range of 2 to 4 oz that will last me well over 6 months. GSC is supposed to yield 4 to 6 oz per plant. We shall see.
It looks like you trimmed off the bottom leaves. Does this give more energy to new growth instead of wasting it on old leaves. I noticed some of my bottom leaves are very small and the bottom 2 right above the cotyledons didn’t get any bigger at all.
The minute that thing sprouts you are on the clock. You want to do everything you can to get it tall. It’s actually in an ok place right now at “preflower”. Keep running veg nutrients for a week and she will stretch and hopefully the stalk will beef up for the next three weeks. No need to defoliate right now imo.
That’s exactly what it does lol, y let the plant waist precious energy on useless leaves that dont get light or small bud sites that wont produce much of anything
I am curious about preflower vs flowering. I started getting white pistils growing out of the stem junctions quite a few days ago. I was told that is preflowering. Now that I am getting white pistils in the top of the plant is that considered full blown flowering yet? According to what I have researched I may have considerable growth while the flowers are forming buds.
I also read that you shouldn’t stop veg nutrients until the plant has stopped growing and then switch to flowering nutrients. Considering I haven’t added any nutrients yet except what is in the FF Ocean Forest should I start with the Big Bloom and Grow Big and wait to start the Tiger Bloom when visible growth has ceased? Thanks.
As far as using ocean forest I am not too sure about when to use nutes but I am in happy frog and started feeding 1/4 doses at about 4 weeks, every other watering, with 5-7ml cal-mag per gallon every watering. I am using the Fox Farms trio. My auto blueberry plants are huge, stems almost 1" diameter and with lst main stems almost 3’ long. My amnesia haze is shorter with a stem the diameter of a silver dollar and easily pushing 60" in circumference. She sprouted on 3/28 and my very tall blueberry on 4/2. I believe you can get big autos to grow in dirt, That or I just got great genetics from ILGM…
Wow, that’s crazy your stems are 1". I just measured mine and it is a measly 1/4". LOL
