I took a clone from somebody and got spider mites. I’ve tried tee’s, Azamax, etc. They would control them but could never get rid them. I’m starting over. I’m getting ready to bug bomb then sanitize both rooms. Do I have to sanitize the whole house. Can they live in the house with no plants?
Unfortunately, if they live in the house, there’s a chance you’ll re-infect you room with comings and goings. It’s possibly a few have hitchhiked throughout your house, as I’ve seen them around my house without any plants. Prevention is always the best method.
In the past I’ve tried many methods to kill them, currently Mighty Wash.
For what it’s worth, I’ve battled 2 mite “visits” with success over the past year using Green clean. Green clean is mostly a soap and soybean oil product if I remember right. Supposed to be ok to use during flowering and I did without problem. No flavor damage or mold…It knocked the little finks in my tents down with gusto and alacrity (what the h?)
But please bear in mind that I’m not recommending it. I’m just reporting what I’ve witnessed firsthand in the spirit of this “education, research and or scientific study”…
Also I’m a noob. Listen to dumme or the other vets over me all day long.
Good luck dude!
How do you find food grade diatomaceous earth works against them @Aquaponic_Dumme?
The room my tent is in has carpet and a couch tables etc. I grow in my media room so there is a whole lot of places for those little buggers to hide once I got them . My one dog is allergic to fleas and I am really into prevention on my animals anyhow when I had spider mites I removed the plants from the tent sprayed and wiped the tent with rubbing alcohol. Soaked the plant in neem solution treated the soil with food grade DE.and gently worked it in with the tongs of a fork . Zipped the tent up turned off the fans and sprayed the room carpets couch chairs paying extra attention to under and behind cushions pillows and furniture with this.
It is what I use on my pets bedding to help in preventing fleas so I figured as long as I dont get it in the tent and the plants are out this is for bedding and furniture so is safe to be on when dry . Anyway that was the last critter of anytype the whole grow but I continued spraying neem until flowering started
Just about anything kills spider mites, including DE. The problem with spider mites are that they breed so fast.
I am using lady bugs for mite control and they seem to be working well. But I was told that it is not a good idea ,but never found out why
I think most people don’t use them for indoor grows only because then you end up with lady bugs all over the house ? But they are killers and effective
I was reading somewhere else that spidermites can become immune to certain pesticides and trying to kill them unsuccessfully can turn them into really big issues.
I had an overwater issue and still trying to correct, I have my latest picture posted in grow journal so dont want to sidebar this post. but if anyone can look at my last post there and see if the white dot like things on my young one is in fact spidermites. I try to turn the top layer of soil every day and at night have a fan on
Lady bugs are wonderful… I take a clone dome and turn it into a house for them with food and water… learn to take care of them and they will take care of you…
Interested in lady bugs. I’ve seen them for sale but how do you care for them? Saw couple white spots on my very young girls. Had to go to work but will looking closer tonight
I will take a little clone dome and dark it out and put a couple of holes in it so they can get in and out…
I put in a dry sponge and a wet sponge inside for them… dry sponge for them to hang out on and wet sponge to drink from , if you can put the sponge in a lil bowl of water would keep it from drying out…
Also put a little cap full of honey and some freash raisins and a couple of pieces of lettuce to give them something to munch on if they eat up all the bugs…
Awesome! Going to order them for my girls. As stated not sure if I’ve got that problem but even if I don’t the lady bugs will take care of them🙆
About how Many ladybugs do I Need?
Just depends where you get them… I believe 500 to 1000 in a box when I got them last… some places sell them 100 to a box… just depends…
As far as how many you will need , it depends on how bad your bug problem is and how big your garden is and how many plants you have…
Good luck…
I have a 9x7 flower room. Temperature and humidity controlled. Using 3
Platinum p600 series leds. I started over and sanitised everything. Just
never want to get those little bastards again.
